Default How Necessary is a Different Bowl

I am waiting for my Mya to arrive. I will be starting with the bowl that is provided with the hookah. I see many a thread that have pictures of many different bowls. Is it necessary to purchase different bowls? I see alot of people talking about funnel bowls. What is beneficial about them?

Thanks alot

The phunnel holds juices inside the bowl, which provides a longer and more flavorful smoke; it's meant to be used with tangiers tobacco though any other will work fine.

phunnel's were org designed for a brand of tobacco called Tangiers (Noir style), users quickly learned of the benfit of using them with dripper tobaccos so the juices stay in the bowl (where they help keep the flavor and session length longer) rather than draining down the stem (and causing a blinking mess).

MYA bowls are decent, I love the extra depth they have over say the Modern Clay bowl. Egyptian bowls are the org bowl for hookah, simple clay bowls, many of us love E bowls. There's even glass / pyrex bowls.

If your new to hookah, I say learn on the bowl that comes with your rig - once perfected you can branch out. It's not necessary to use/get other bowls, but you may want to keep a few lying around for accidents and such not.

Good choice for a little hookah.

Other bowls arent a necessity at all... I have a mya and a standard egyptian, and the smoke all tobaccos fine, including the LUCID line of tangiers.

MYA bowls are actually pretty good bowls IMO

But, phunnels are very good as well. The sessions last longer with this bowl, like 2+ because the juices aren't running down the hookah. Not only that, since the juices are staying put in the phunnel, you get more flavor compared to a regular bowl

Mya's will do the job for you, but if you want flavor and a longer session, get a phunnel.

Theres a couple different models of MYA bowls out there.... the ones I have are the male version with the rounded bottom...

I think they smoke alright... the only complaint that I have is that they do take a bit of shisha to fill.... the top tends to get crispy ...and then leaved a bit of unused shisha at the bottom. A bit wasteful IMHO. Pretty good for a party scenario... but I leave mine on the shelf in favor of a flat bottom, shallower Egyptian clay bowl when smokin solo.

worked perfect. only upgrade would be to a phunnel but thats really no big worry unless your smoking tangiers

I still use my large egyptian I got with my KM. I tend to use the Medium size I bought with it more but I find no need for a new bowl. I say stick with the stock bowl until you have extra cash and decide you wanna branch out and pick up a new bowl.

yes mya bowls are great actually the only bowl i would recomed upgrading too is indeed the Phunnel bowl, i have both and i have perfected both bowls... the only difference between the two is the phunnel is a little bit larger and more convenient because it keeps all your juices inside the bowl thus creating less mess and keeping the flavor longer because the juice holds the majority of the shishas flavour.. i say perfect your mya bowl becuase it will work well for you and then once you have mastered it i say move on to phunnel bowl it will litterly be the last bowl you buy unless you want the different sizes of the phunnel bowl like me i have a medium but im about to buy a small for when its just me and my g/f smoking..

I highly recommend the phunnel bowl, I haven't used a standard bowl in the 2 months i've owned my phunnel.

my friend just got a brand new Michelin man mya (i dont remember the name but it looks like the michelin man kinda, or at least makes you think of him). stock bowl on it was decent, only issue was the inside was uncoated and of course the juices dripped all down.

for the set up im getting early next month im getting a funnel to start with and probably a mod or tea cup bowl. ive always had funnel bowls from people that cant set up a hookah well so i dont really know how well they compare, since ive never had the same shisha on the same hookah just with swapping bowls. im digging the funnel due to the length of time of a smoke and less mess to clean up

standard bowls are just fine they work well that is what i use when i smoke solo or with like one other person.. but the only time i use A Phunnel is when im smoking tangiers or when im smoking with a couple people bc the sesson lasts longer the flavor lasts.. and its such and easier cleanup..

theres gota be a way to make something to keep the juices from dripping down the stem but still use a normal bowl, i know how it would have to be shaped but just not sure how to fab it up
