just go to a car shop like autozone and get either polishing compound or chrome metal polish and they will polish up your hookah better than anything

i have to admit i have never done that, just rinsing with water has worked out fine. polishing seems like a lot of work but it may be worth it. good luck

I'm with you on this one John. I have never polished my hookah but seems like a good idea to do maybe once every 6months...ish. lol I'll have to do this one day when I'm bored.

The only hookah I would polish would be the solid brass Engineer I had. I wasn't goning green, just would loose some of it's luster after 6 months of sitting alone on the shelf (no, I didn't smoke from it often).

I used the jewlery polishing clothes my BF had for his watch. Worked like a dream and didn't really need to be washed off. If you use Brasso or other polishes (not car wax) make sure to rinse it well - you wouldn't want any of that stuff to somehow get inside the stem, hose or bowl. Could be nasty.

And if you use car wax, be careful of how high on the stem you go (or if you have a short stem) - it can heat up and may melt the wax/polish right off (my MYA QT gets quite warm while smoking).

Good luck and make sure to post the pictures.

i;d personally go with neverdull because it is probably not strong enough to take off the chrome plating on the stem while some polishing agents may mess up the stem.. just a thought

polishing compound or chrome polish will NOT mess up your stem. RUBBING compound however will, and will not give you the shine you are looking for.

That's because Ketchup contains vinegar which is acidic. Good for removing tarnish.
Fluoride toothpase makes for a good, cheap metal polish, too.

There is no way the stem gets any hotter than a car baking in the sun. If he decided to wax it, there wouldn't be any problems. This is not candle wax. And no I have never dropped a coal on my arm...?

be careful with polishes, seeing as they scratch away metal to smooth it out and depending on the hookah you probably have nickel plating on it unless its solid brass or steel

a professional cleaner for what ever the material is off the hookah would be the best bet

+1 on instrument polish.

I'm a marching brass player and i would just use some of my silver instrument polish for my silver hookah ((brass polish for brass)).

i WOULD NOT use brasso though... cause from what i know, brasso is a corrosive. Because brass instrument valves has such a small clearance between the valve and valve casing, any gunk buildup makes the valves really sticky/sluggish. so we use brasso to eat away at the crap on it to make the valves work correctly again... so i imagine that brasso would eat away your laquer/coating... just my opinion... if i'm wrong, someone correct me plz

oh yeah, we used toothpaste on our valves after we brasso'd them... to polish them and fill in any scratches in the valve.

+1 on toothpaste haha
