Default Al Fakhers reponce to the new cut of tobacco

This is the email they sent me.

Thank you for your e-mail; we consider your comments with great importance and assure you that will take the necessary measures to continue with the quality that you deserve to have. The problem you face is sometimes caused due to the high supply of tobacco quantities which may include small quantities of some short cuts, still we are working very hard with our suppliers to insure that such quantities are eliminated. Like your good self we have received some complaints from our loyal customers, but I assure you that the necessary measures are being taken to keep the quality standards to your expectation.

Best regards,

SamerT. Fakhouri
General Manager

(Offering a tissue to AF so they can wipe the brown off their nose) What a condescending e mail. Nothing will change. LOL

What a load of crap.... but atleast YOU got a reply. I still haven't heard a peep from them about my email. Out of the 3 flavors I recently gotten, 2 have issues (tickle) and one still smells slightly chemically (more air-out will have to happen before I smoke it).

Their email EXPLAINS nothing about WHY it's happening.... oh, due to high demand they are taking short cuts? BS - if there's that much demand produce more, not cut corners and produce a sub-par product. If you rush to produce crap, the sales will go down. If you really wanted the "demand" to drop, that's the way to do it....

Blarg, something else is going on and they don't want people to know for whatever reason.

Samn what they said was that due to the high demand of tobacco (not their products, they ment tobacco generally) their suppliers are sending them sub-par tobacco. Their fault was that they actually used the sub-par tobacco in their molasses in order to satisfy the demand and now they are losing ground but are trying to work it out to eliminate that.
This is how i understand this
Cheers

One thing to consider is that tobacco is a crop item and subject to drought and diseases and a few types of molds and parasites. The tobacco used by overseas shisha Companies is grown in India which has different Conditions than the us.

Conditions may be such that they take the dregs or not much at all.

I suppose they Could buy us tobacco but the price and tariffs might make the price Outrageous.

I thought i was just burning my shisha when i felt the throat tingling with al fakher. Its sad to see such a great brand go the direction it's going.

Samn, you will get the EXACT same email, they are a big company and act like one. Bungle gave me some grape... it smells great, and smoked great at first... but now i'm noticing this revolting taste of plastic and bitterness in the back of my throat. It still smells like good grape when i exhale, but tastes terrible!

Good point Lake. Tobacco crops do very and shipping from the Americas is not economically doable. Havana uses tobacco from France and the Turks use local stuff but the fact is that world wide demand for tobacco is very high so I am sure that a lot of sub-par stuff is used in moasel. I don't see what that has to do with cut size however.

In the end I haven't noticed any problems with AF but it seems others are not so lucky. I'd encourage everyone to try Salloum (they make the best apple around) and Desi Merli.

And I do understand that the product in (tobacco) may not be up to 100% par, but I'm not sure if ALL the issues are just to tobacco. Why the heck is it DRIPPING in glycerine now? And didn't old AF only list Molasses, not both? I understand changing a product in order to improve or increase production, but it almost seems as if they are taking a step backwards.

I don't mind if they say they are improving it, but what irks me more is the fact they didn't come straight out say what the heck is wrong. I hate "dancing around issues" and offering flimzy promises.

What about all the people who have already gotten (and probably thrown away) bad batches of stuff? HECK - the stuff they sent me for turning over a "fake" tub of Grape ended up smelling SO chemical and nasty I threw it away (then had to take the trash out before going to bed - the whole apt smelled gross). What about all those people and their hard spent and lost money? Not even getting a satisfactory answer as to WHY annoys me.

*end rant/fume*

hhhmm just last weekend i bought a 250 tub of af grape ive heard all the stories about the imfamous ketchup smell so i thought it only had to do with the most recent production dates so as i looked throught the piles of af grape at my local tobacco store i finally found one that was made in 2007 so i thought great maybe i got a good batch but to later realize when i got home as i opened up the tub that it did indeed smell like the original grape smell so i got excited but as soon as i opened up the package and poured the shisha into the tub, low and behold there was the ketchup smell!!! so i was dissapointed. now i have a 250 tub of af grape just lying around i havent even smoked any of it. However AF makes a damn good Grenadine flavour so at least not all their flavours are shoddy...

The email came from the the general manager. I can't say if its the GM from Sierra or Al Fakher directly, i'm assuming it's Al Fakher directly.

Even though I still like the AF now, this will make me an even more loyal customer. I just ordered like 6 different types of coals from hookah company.com and I finally decided to splurge on some blue mist. I cant wait to try it.

^^ ooo SB blue myst is good, smells sooooo good

i dont know if i buy the cut is because of high demand, seeing as cigars get the best leaves, then pipes get the 2nd cuts, and cigs get the dirt thats left over

idk, im waiting to see how the AF i got in my shipment is that right now has left memphis TN on a UPS truck, wednesday FTW

that ^^ i dont agree with they are still a good tobacco but if they have been cutting the tobacco shorter it does make sence bc there is such a high demand on it they can buy less cut it shorter soo there for producing more packages.. i personally havnt seen a problem, besides the major dripping (therefore i use my phunnel more) but really Af isnt that bad, they can work on the cut a little bit though.

I don't mind AF now that I know what it may/may not be. I just ordered some and plan on another order w/ BadJuju in the next week or so. It's just the fact such a high end brand seems to have dropped so low and isn't dealing with it in a "good" manner. The fine cut and tickle can be dealt with, it's the horrible chemical smell that some batches seem to have that's the most worrisome.

Man AF is going down the drain. The cut is not just the problem. The flavor is also kind of shitty.

I wonder why the hell they even changed the cut in the first place?
Maybe they are having money probs or something?

Maybe their product is too high in demand that they can't afford the pure tobacco that they used to work with and that can't keep up? Who knows!

Meh, but my second theory makes more sense to me.
