Default Newer phunnel Bowls (After 2007)

Has anyone notice the difference in the latest style of Phunnel bowl? If you have one purchased from last year, take a look at it. If it's a small, its pretty shallow, and the middle hole is a good size. The whole bowl is very smoothly done, and on the inside it is perfectly smooth.

The new ones are rounded on the bottom, and about 1/4 - 1/2" deeper than the older ones. They also have a smaller circumference, and looked "Jammed up". The paint and glaze looks much less refined, and you can see the obvious seam of where they are put together. The inside is very rough to the touch and not smooth at all. The newer style is lighter as well, with a lighter glaze.

My older one smokes noticeably better then my newer one, to the point where I am giving my newer one away.

Has anyone noticed anything?

i have noticed that the glazing on the inside of the bowl of my newer one is pretty crummy. i don't, however, have anything to compare it to.

Zen, do you have any photos you can show me? Also, what is the color or yours?

mdl- Nah man, i only can get photos of the older bowl I have. I gave my friend the newer one and he broke it last night actually. It was Mint Green and Blue (like from MNhookah and *************). You can actually see on both those sites the under-side is rounded more so and they are taller.

Ah that sucks. I was planning on getting a small phunnel sometime soon. So these ones are no good? If this is so, I will just stick to my Vortex. I love it!

The bowls are hand made which means they will be some variation in gloss, depth, and color. They aren't manufactured with a CNC machine so not every single one is going to be exactly the same. Also, certain colors are less glossy to bring out that specific color.

well i got one from eric that wasn't glossy at all (specifically made that way? it was one of the weird faint green ones)...it looked great but when its not glossy it stains a lot and impossible to fully clear of stains.

all the glossy ones are easy as shit to clean though

I'm talking about a totally different design though, smaller circumference, larger center holes, deeper bowl, rough innards.

remember they are hand made so all are different some what, my friend has a medium one (i think) that the center is too tall so they have to put a piece in to hold the foil off the hole so that they get any smoke into it).

the small i just got does seem deeper and not as wide as i expected but the glaze seems fine to me. i dont have much experience with smoking from funnels to compare it to but it seems to work ok, i just probably need to get a mod or make one for my self

I know they are all hand-made, but that's not what I'm talking about. My Small Phunnel is older; it's shallower, wider, and on the inside it is perfectly smooth. They new ones are just Designed differently, and ALL the new ones look similar to each other, but different from the old ones!

hmmm idk what to say then, maybe they got a new person making them that just does it differently.

which inside are you talking about the part the shisha touches or the inside inside that is hidden?

Just for example, take a look at the Blue and Black in comparison with the Red. They are all very glossy though. The Red is the older style (less round shaped bowl)

hmm i guess i have one of the newer ones, it smokes ok though, just after like 10 cleanings with a scotchbright pad (not to heavy duty cleanings) the glaze is wearing some)

what ever, just an excuse to accumulate more bowls, or just get a friend in ceramics to make me some

Sorry to revive a thread of the dead but...

I just my green/blue/black small phunnel bowl today. They are noticeably shorter than the old phunnels from last year. The top on the bowl is way thinner and so is the center hole. The bowl looks deeper.

Lol it looks like I'm staring at a small phunnel midget or something

Mine was very different, exactly how Jilly described, and it was also the same color. I just happened to notice it. I wouldn't have brought anything up if it smoked the same, but it really doesn't.
