Default Exact sizes of a Phunnel

I know this is a little bit interesting topic, but i and some of my friends want to make some phunnels on our own.

Most of all, i want to know the size of the small phunnel, becuse i think the medium and the large is way too big So if somebody have some freetime and a small phunnel than i would say thanks to him for this favour. What i need is the inner and the outer diameter of the top, the height difference between the outer and inner part, the depth of the bowl, and the height of the bowl.

Thanks.

honestly, make it to the size you want/need, like rex said they are all hand made any way.

wall thickness of out side i think is about 1/8th in, the space from the inner tube to the out side wall is about a thumb width and depth.

Why go through the trouble? The chinese ones John carries are $9 and the original ones are like $15 and impossible to break. Just buy one.

because if you have access to a ceramics studio you can make it for like $1 in materials and probably 30 mins of your time

but would you rather trust someone that has a hand made product that is being sold patented, and works perfectly as is, with much trial and error
the choice is yours- i go for the quality product everytime

And Krampi is overseas - the shipping will eat him a new one. I can understand that much. Plus sometimes it's the thrill of using something that you made over purchased that makes it worth it in the end. Good luck K!

They are all different, you should go for a small when smoking with 1-4 people, a medium for any more than that.

if some one that can do ceramics cant make a phunnel bowl they are retarded. it is one of the simplest things. its not like you have to have tight tolerances on it, if you did then they would have used molds for them as apposed to allowing them to be hand made

also is the phunnel even patented, im pretty sure its not since there are like 4 versions of them, and even if the chinese were breaking the patent then no one would sell them

glaze is glaze, you have high fire and low fire, high fire takes higher temp to apply, gives nicer colors (iirc) and is more durable, low fire take lower temp to apply, gives more pastel colors (iirc) and is not as durable.

its probably high fire, glaze is just a colored glass basically, nothing special

o edit, its probably a food safe grade of glaze, i dont remember off hand if food safe is the common version or not (not really knowledgeable in ceramics just a general knowledge from doing a little of it and from it being in my department here at school)

understandable worry but the glaze requires about 3 times the heat a coal produces for the low fire stuff so there should be any issues

It's been a while, but I have taken ceramics courses in the past.

I remember that there are certain glazes that are not dinnerware safe because of what is used in the glaze.

From what I did (which was very beginner) the heat of the kiln didn't effect the glaze color. The kiln just melts the glass glaze onto the pottery at the correct temp.

That said, I doubt if they would use any bad types of glaze for a hookah bowl.

ya^

the temps done affect the glaze but IIRC the low fire and high fire glazes have different visual aspects to them (i think the high fire ones were more vibrant)

Oh, cool. Our beginning class was all the same type of fire, I just don't know if it was the high or low. We had a pretty big color range of glazes that we could pick from and they all used the same type of fire.

ya the only reason i know any of this is from my highschool art class when my teacher explained it all to me, im doing metals now and tagging on some glass stuff, i figure i can pick up the wood and ceramics a lot more easily than glass and dont really have a want to do textiles (im in craft/material studies as a major).

so yes i do plan to make hookahs at some point
