I must say it sounds like oxidation from the welding. I doubt it is rusting. I'm not positive so maybe someone can come and help out who is more experienced.

The insides of the hose port has a tenacious green trace , any recommendations?

Get a small diameter cleaning brush and go to town with some baking soda and lemon juice mix. Do that a couple times including the stem tube. You might want to try using a different hose when your through just to eliminate that as the cause if you haven't already.

can u approximate how much baking soda/lemon juice/water in the mix?

The hose is okay, I haven't washed neither the hose nor the metal mouthpiece, but I have a brand new plastic disposable hose that I can try to make sure it is not the culprit

just make a really wet paste and go to town. Add some hot water to this mixture and let it sit in the base over night.

I'd do a thorough scrubbing with brushes and dish soap (with hot water).

I recently started using a shotgun cleaning rod on mine with a wire brush at the end. It's crazy how much black water comes out when I use this.

I bought baking soda and some lemons today on my way home, and will go buy a cleaning wire brush. Any recommendations on the proportions of the mix of lemon/soda/water?

i just squirt some lemon juice down the stem while plugging the bottom and swish it up and down then brush it. dont just put a drop but use a squirt or 2 and a shake or 2.

and about it being "oxidation, not rust" your saying "its 6 not half a dozen", they are the same thing.

It is working !

Now I also bought some abrasive paper, rolled it like a cigarette, shoved it down the hose port and rotated it, man it is now shiny clean on the inside.

what grit did you use?

also make sure to wash it out very well before you use it cause that grit on the paper is not something you want to inhale

keep an eye on that spot over time, not sure how the humidity is where you are but where i am you gota keep metals polished or they will rust faster cause of the pits and scratches holding on to stuff.

if its dry its no biggie
