I just got a 35" KM and i'm happy......BUT the smoke seems much thinner than with any of my other rigs. I've got a 22" MZ a 30 " Mya and an 18" mini in the rotation at the moment. Despite my HP rating, I'm not a newbie, but I'm stymied. What AM i doing wrong?

My 32" KM smokes like a freight train, well actually all my pipes do. How are you setting up the bowl and what tobacco/coal are you using?

That's the thing....my set up is tried and true. The only difference is the pipe. 40mm golden quick lite coal, on a Mokhtar agreelah sheet in a mod bowl with a tobacco I've smoked before.

Might be the bowl. Mod bowls sometimes have really small holes at the bottom, preventing airflow.

just keep changing things, different shisha, coal, bowls, foil, hole pattern and you'll get it. That's a great rig and it should work out fine. sorry to hear that, km's are notorious for big smoke

I'm just a bit disappointed. I sold a Mya Obelisk which smoked really well, and the KM just isn't living up to it's reputation. All the gaskets are good, everything is sealing properly. Plenty of air flow in the mod bowl ( I used it on my MZ and it smoked like a champ). I tried an egyptian cobra hose in place of the KM hose....still not much smoke. Very thin. I'm starting to wonder if there's a problem with the heart.

Add a little more coal on that bowl. KM's are tricky at first, so keep experimenting. Toss on a windcover or something. That would help plently

Thanks for all of your input. I've tried multiple coals and the wind cover. Still disappointingly thin. I sent an email to the online vendor I purchased it from. I'm beginning to think theres a problem with the stem or heart. Hopefully they'll help me out. Anyone familiar with "Social Smoke"? I didn't see them in the list of reviewed members ( i hope I'm not mentioning a banned member.....that would be just my luck)

No they are fine, they had great Syrians for a while. If you say it's a heart problem, there's only 2 explanations. It's clogged or not airtight. You said your rig is completely airtight, so the only realistic problem left is an obstruction. blow into the hose port and then into the purge valve.

If it is an air problem, you will be able to feel it and hear it.

What kind of shisha?
Also, try looks around where the hose port connects to the heart. There could be a problem there.

Place an unpacked bowl on top like you normally would and put your hand over it. Draw through the hose and listen for leaks. If you are getting a good seal and suction on your hand you will not hear any hissing. If that checks out then pack the bowl as is and smoke. If it is still weak on the smoke then you have an obstruction issue, a packing issue or a heat issue.

Setup 2 hookahs, with one bowl. Use the same bowl on both Hookahs, and the same hose on both hookas... See if it makes a difference, and it's a process of elimination from there. If it smokes better on the other Hookah with the same bowl and hose, then IT MUST BE a leak or an obstruction in your rig...

Do you see thick white smoke in your base? If not, there's a problem somewhere either in your bowl, stem, or foil/shisha. If there's thick smoke in the base and you're not getting thick clouds, it's a problem in your heart, hose port, or hose.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I think i've finally got it. turns out one of the holes on the bottom of the heart adjacent to the down tube was'nt fully drilled out/open. Seems to be drawing just fine now, i'll know for sure when the buzz subsides. It's hitting like a heavyweight now!

gratulations.. I had the same problem on one of my hookahs, a mz... I took a hammer and another thin object and started to hammer the hole underneath the heart that goes to the hose.. it was a small piece of metal that was covering maybe 15%of the hole..
well.. after some angry hittings with the hammer since it didnt want to brake loose, the whole hoseport brake out of my shisha.. it was like a small pipe that was connecting with the hose on one side and was a hole on the otherside wich is the one located underneath the heart..
So now you guys now how mz hearts look like and is constructed.. dont do my mistake! My MZ is ruined!!
