They would be good for JUICY tobacco, to keep the juice from running down the stem. I have one, but don't use it very often. I also have a vortex bowl from sahara smoke that I like, same concept. But I do use a standard egyptian bowl quite often.

I have started to prefer phunnel's just because it keeps things cleaner and lots of the tobacco I smoke seems on the wet side..

vortex vs phunnel = vortex wins!

phunnels are great, don't get me wrong, it does keep things clean but it just takes toooo much tobacco to fill it up to get a good session.

Funnels are great. When I started using mine I noticed a great improvement in smoke density as well as flavor it is a worthwhile investment. And you can make yourself a mod just by using aluminum foil. You can make the mod pretty wide so it takes less shisha to fill it up!

Phunnel has one large hole leading downward in the center cone of the bowl, Vortex has four holes leading inward into the center cone then down.

so they actually are like a funnel you would use for oil and such, atleast in shape? like a cone with a whole at the bottom? the pics i am seeing of them makes it look more like a ring with around the hole that is raised up above the rest....

It's a ring that's raised up so the juices stay in the bowl.

phunnels are a pointless if you are not going to smoke for at least 2 hours, closer to 3 even with a few people. the bowl will last forever. i will use it some times but ive started to not use it as much since i get bored with the flavors and since its humid here now i cant get my tangeiers to acclimate right so i have to real reason to use it (but you can use a normal bowl to smoke tangiers any way.

i like it but if you dont smoke for a long time its kinda pointless

I have a small phunnel, which I use every session. I do not think that it's too much shisha for 1 person, and it does not smoke for hours on end. I get 1 round of coals out of it, and if I try to recoal, most of the time it tastes burnt at first, then it seems to get a tad better. There is a wee little bit of wet shisha left after 1 set of coals, but not enough for another go.

Now, does this mean I'm doing it wrong? I dunno. Last I tried was smoking some Layalina Grape, and while Layalina is not the favorite here on the forums, It's pretty decent IMO. I fire it up with 3 coconaras, and that gets it hitting nice and thick.. I do not scorch my shisha at all, as I rotate the coals frequently. I just don't see how you could smoke out 3 people for 2+ hours on 1 phunnel worth.

What I have been doing is scraping out the small amount of untouched shisha, and just repacking it with fresh stuff, instead of just recoaling. Tastes that much better, and I'm not wasting anything..

i can got 2-3 rounds of cocos and as long as ive managed the heat right i wont get burnt taste. last week we smoked about 7 people (most not heavy smokers but 2-3 of us are) through the boondock saints, got pretty dead at 2 hours but wasnt totally gone but tha was with hookah hookah which seems to me to die faster.

and with tangiers theres no way u can be done with one round in a phunnel

but yes i agree that Layalina is a decent shisha, doesnt blow me away but not bad at all

Tangiers is a different story.. With how thick you pack it up to get it to smoke right, it will last this long.. But for normal shisha, like AF, etc, I think you're more likely to get 1 good bowl out of it..
