Default Worth a shot

My supplies had started to run low and did not have time to wait for a mail order. On my way home i decided to take a chance and stopped by a local Arabic grocery shop. As Nashville has a huge Kurdish population i figured "what the hell". Man oh man was i ever happy i did!

The guy had loads of Al Fakher and Nakhla. Prices were pretty much what i would have paid online and no shipping WooHoo.

I still am a firm believe in ordering online, i have never seen any place that carries as much sheesha as i can find online. But hey If your in a rush and can't wait till the UPS guys gets to your house, local Arabic shops are a good place.

I would have been even happier had he carried Al Waha or Havana or some of the other brands as well but still! I ended up with a local shop to buy sheesha from.

Oh wait just a sec i just checked online and i seem to have gotten a better deal.

I bought Al Fakher Orange (250 gram tub) for $7.99 and Nakhla Mint (250gram) for $5.99

Thats even cheaper than the online store i use.

I really need to talk this guy into carrying more flavors too.

Sorry to go on and on but this is pretty big news for me. Its the only place that i have found that carries product local.

We have a couple of bars around here but they are in really bad parts of town (bad as in traffic). the closest to me is really close (as in less than a mile) and it is a very nice little place. Lizzies grill, and they have some awsome food but only 3 puny flavors to choose from. I started smoking hookah for the flavor so 3 just dont make me happy, know what i mean

That is great news! I went to this middle eastern market one time, and scored 3 boxes of Nakhla for $12 So ya, I feel your joy! Always nice to get a deal like that!

The middle eastern market here is pretty decent. I can get nakhla (if i liked it) for 5.99$. I wish they carried other flavors though.

I saw a head shop trying to sell HH 50g for 9.99 omg : Made me want to punch the guy in the face. I was just speechless. I grabbed my Fi and hauled ass out of the store. It was ridiculus!

I am green with envy over roland's good fortune in having a middle eastern market like that. We don't have anything like that in the whole state.

I stopped by again today, and asked the owner if he would think about carrying Al Waha. He told me that he was going to the warehouse tomorrow and see what they had. Then he Gave me 6 tubs (250) that was a month out of date

How cool is that!

Im arab so I would know...Middle eastern markets are good, actually they're great. One of the main reasons is because most of the owners are willing to be talked down to a lower price again I know because ^^^

It was really different than going to a standard market. Since it caters to a select group of people there are things you cant find anywhere else. I was thinking about getting some rose water to put in the base. Lots of interesting things, but since you pretty much have to rely on pictures i am a bit leary of trying other none hookah stuff. But some of the sweets look good.

Talk a shop owner's price down? I've never even thought about trying such a thing. People really are more different then i've realized. It's funny because I like haggling when I go to shecord shows or auto jumbles. I really wish I lived in a place that had a decent middle eastern market. Rowland is one lucky guy.

Yes Hajo, all Arab are genuinely easy going and are eager to please. To them, business is more about Friendship than the money. I think I can claim that as well; I get it from my father. He came to the US with absolutely nothing. He now owns 4 liquor stores, 5 tobacco stores, 2 shopping centers, and several pieces of land that are worth several times what he bought them for (bought them several years ago)

One of my professors told me something once, and I never forgot it: You never know how to make it to the top, until you work your way up from the bottom.

I believe this is the mind set of almost all foreigners in the US. With that said, like I said, most arabs are in business, yes, to make money but also to make life time friends. Next time any of you go to a convenience store, gas station, etc., stop and talk to the clerk (most likely foreign; arab) and have a conversation with them. Not to be for or against anyone, including myself, but arab are some of the best people in the world
