Default bye bye tupperware, hello handivac

So I was at Albertsons last night and I came upon this cool little toy from Reynolds, the Handivac. It's a little pump that sucks the air out of special Reynolds Handivac baggies. It was $10.95 for the pump and 3 bags, great deal for fresh shisha!

Anybody else using this system?

They work alright, just remember to store the bags laying flat - storing upright for some reason made air leak back in. Also DON'T over pack them, there is a line on the bags to "fill" to - more than that, the juice will come out into the machine. Not a horrible thing, but bloody messy to clean up afterwards.

where can you buy this thing.. Is it anywhere on the internet?
and would a bag handle 250 grams of juicy shisha without anything being messy and cleaning it up like sammi said?
in that case it would be awesome!!!

Just google 'Reynolds Handi-Vac', I think it's even on Amazon.com. If you're worried about mess, I would just wrap your shisha in some saran wrap (like Nahkla does) and then just vacuum seal that inside the bag. That way, the mess is only on the saran wrap. I just leave the tobacco in the open packaging and toss that in the bag. The quart size bags are plenty for 250g, that is actually what I have in the picture above, 250g of Nahkla sweet sweet and delicious melon.

That's neat.
I'm gonna buy it, and preserve my tobacco in that for years to come.

My mom bought one of thse for her meat to freeze, and one day i decided to throw my SB in one and seal it up before i put it back in the tin. it works pretty well. I just leave it in the original bag, then put that in the vacuum bag and suck out the air.

However, the juice from my SB pumpkin pie got sucked out of the original packaging while it sat in the tin, not to happy abotuthat. Maybe put the original package in a regular sandwich bag (non-ziplock) or some seran wrap before. i dunno.

if you had enough shisha to fill one of those space bags, you're either extremely rich, or grow your own >< either way it would be full of win

a lot of shishas dont come with cans and when you have a big collection you need to keep your shisha as air tight as possible because you never know when youll get back to that flavor

Shisha lasts up to two years, sometimes more. I think I would end up using it in that time. No worries to me. I keep it in air tight Ziploc containers.

I have one of those vacuum sealers back home that also comes with a hose and jars that you can suck the air out of. Im thinking of grabbing that and a few jars for it.
