Default Hookah Bars/Lounges

Im opening one soon (March) and I wanted to know when you guys go to a Hookah bar...

1) How many different brands do they have?

2) How many different flavors from each brand?

3) Quick lites or Naturals?

4) Egyptians or Myas?

5) Short or Tall?

6) Sofas, Booths, couches or more like tables and chairs?

In my area, there are no Hookah bars. Closest one is in downtown Houston (30 Mintue drive) There is a big market for it, and my father is supporting me all the way, so Im down. Looking to lease out between 2500-3500 Square feet. Im the type that, if im gonna do it, Im gonna do it big and Im gonna do it right.

Thanks in advanced.

most hookah bars have one brand. Some use one brand and distribute others.

as many as possible

most are naturals but its like a 60/40 split, quick lites allow customers to adjust their own heat (potentially dangerous)

egyptians, though one has mya that I've seen, the crappy acrylic ones. ON that thought though i depends on your image. Ifyou want new age, pop culture, go acrylic and anything modern looking, if you want authentic, rustic, of continental go egyptian.

1) How many different brands do they have?
not too many, do some taste testing, get some friends together and find a brand or two that is overall good for you guys.
2) How many different flavors from each brand?
find out what all the good ones are, the ones people like. Noobieness is key
3) Quick lites or Naturals?
naturals, better to be additive free if you want to make a stink about it
4) Egyptians or Myas?
you should know better friend, egyptians aslong as you're willing to see the good fall
5) Short or Tall?
depends on how short or how tall. I'd say find some that smoke well, give big newbie loving clouds ect
6) Sofas, Booths, couches or more like tables and chairs?
round booths give a good feng shui feel and are good for conversations

1) How many different brands do they have?
-Carry all the basics, Nakhla, Al-Waha, Mid-Ranges like Al-Fakher and Layalina, But also carry premiums like Starbuzz and Fumari

2) How many different flavors from each brand?
-I would say check the reviews and find the flavors that people adore and love, and carry them

3) Quick lites or Naturals?
Naturals, and not just one big one plopped in the center...

4) Egyptians or Myas?
Egyptians

5) Short or Tall?
-Combination of short and tall for different groups sizes

6) Sofas, Booths, couches or more like tables and chairs?
-Booths and sofas definately

The following is from the only known local hookah bar in my area:

1) How many different brands do they have?
Starbuzz, Havana, Taniger, Al Amir, and Hookah-Hookah

2) How many different flavors from each brand?
between 10-15

3) Quick lites or Naturals?
quicklites, but don't know which brand

4) Egyptians or Myas?
egyptians unless they bought new ones. many rotators.

5) Short or Tall?
tall

6) Sofas, Booths, couches or more like tables and chairs?
Sofas, tables, chairs (living room type). As well as 1-2 big screen TV's.

As to what I look for, it would be:

1) How many different brands do they have?
Starbuzz, Layalina, Al Fakher, Nakhla, Al Waha... minuim

2) How many different flavors from each brand?
to start (first opening) atleast 5-10 per brand, then narrow it down after seeing what does/doesn't sell

3) Quick lites or Naturals?
Naturals perfered, but GOOD quaility QL (Goldens) would be fine as well

4) Egyptians or Myas?
Egyptians hands down

5) Short or Tall?
A decent mix of both, allow the customer to request a size would be nice as well

6) Sofas, Booths, couches or more like tables and chairs?
Sofas would be the most comfortable, but standard table & chairs would work better long run. Stay away from booths - i can see trouble that way.

Here in Nashville we have like 4, but i have only been to one. Its very nice but not really a hookah bar so much as just a normal lounge with hookahs.

Very nice and clean, awsome menu and bar. Down side is DJ and Karaoke on the weeknds YUCK.

They use KMs but only have 3 flavors (Apple, Strawberry and Apricot). but the food is good and my wife likes the absolute stress drinks......so at least i can get her to go with me.

1) How many different brands do they have?
IMO 4-5 brand of, 1-2 of each range (eg. al waha , nakhla , alfakher, layalina and starbuzz)

2) How many different flavors from each brand?
get around 8-10 from each and then see what sells best
3) Quick lites or Naturals?
Go for naturals ( they 'll cost less, last longer and easier to manage IMO, + the no chemicals benefit)

4) Egyptians or Myas?
Depends on the look of your place but as a hookahlover i'd like to see Egyptians in a lounge

5) Short or Tall?
The biggest the hookah the more newbies it attracts .... but id go with 30" rotators if i were you

6) Sofas, Booths, couches or more like tables and chairs?
By this question i guess you wont offer food....
I'd like to see both sofas and taables in a lounge. Here lounges either have sofas or tables and chairs.
you can do both but bewere -- more sofas than tables, people prefer it --

I guess that would be my dream-lounge

thanks for everyones input.

I know the basics. I have been to several bars/lounges/clubs/etc. I know what works and what doesnt. I just wanted opinions from you guys since owners never really get the chance to communicate with the consumer.

Brands, I think I'll do Al Fakher, Layalina, Al Amir, Al Quemah, Fumari, and Havana.
Flavors, Ill do the research but im pretty sure what i want.

Layout...open, lounge scene with several micro-fiber couches. Lots of pillows, and also several booths and normal seating just incase I want to serve food (havent decided)

Rigs...Syrians. Im not gonna beat around the bush. In my area, 40% will be new to the game if not more. I want them to have an experience of a life time. I dont want to put MYA's out there (smoke capabilities suck) and I dont want to deal with Egyptians for the simple fact that Syrians are the hardest hitting hookahs I have ever come by. Dont get me wrong, Ill keep some "normal" rigs off to the side for those who cant handle it.

Ill keep you guys posted.

Microfiber couches? How flammable are those? I'd recommend some THICK ass leather instead. More durable, burn resistant, patchable.

I really like Pharaohs so far, i'm a noob though so maybe there is something comparable for less money. The jars they come in would be nice though, for inventory reasons.
