Default My Mya Debate: Gyro or Obelisk? :-o

Hello fellow Hookahers

I am currently debating whether to purchase a Mya Gyro or Mya Obelisk. The Colossus is a bit too big for me so I feel these are the next best 2 choices. What are your overall opinions on the two (regarding smoke and design), and which would you choose? I am going to purchase the two hose model of either, and I plan on replacing both hoses with Nammor models to get a better pull as well as purchasing a Phunnel bowl.

I want to make sure that I make the better purchase because neither of these heavy hitters are easy on the wallet!

*Side note! – If I decide to purchase glow balls to go into the base of the hookah, will they not be able to show up in the Obelisk?

Any feedback is much appreciated, thank you for your time!

The Obelisk look very nice but I like the vase of the Gyro. I like the cut look rather than full frosted. But that's just an opinion. Either will be a fantastic smoker.

The base of the Obelisk looks like it would make it a very sturdy hookah but aesthetically I think the overall design of the Gyro is better, plus it is less expensive. If light can pass through the base of the Obelisk then you shouldn't have a problem with glow balls. I can't tell from the picture, but I don't know of very many hookahs that have opaque bases; how could you tell how much water to put in?

Yea good points guys, has anyone owned either one?

I like the look of the Obelisk because it is modern, but I like the look of the Gyro because of its clarity and authenticity.

At the moment Iím leaning towards the Gyro....but the more feedback the better! I'd love to hear from an owner of either product.

Also, Iím sure others are looking into these two models as well....for they seem to be very popular among enthusiasts. This would be a good thread to "beef up" to get as much info as possible to make the decision for many much easier.

Keep postin!...and thanks again

I have smoked out of the Obelisk before and it is a great hookah, although I've never smoked out of the Gyro. I'm sure either one would be a great buy, although the Obelisk is almost 100 dollars more

They are essentially the same thing, only ones taller. So either one will be fine.

Yea, they are pricey!

If the smoke is very similar with both, which do you guys think has more of the “wow” factor when someone sees it in a room. (Without price as an influencing factor in either direction)

...basically leave your posts on which you think looks better

I've owned both models and they both had crap bases with air bubbles that shattered. Other then the glass both were typical Myas in terms of function and neither functioned too well after a year. I gave them both away. You can get numerous better rigs for less.

The Obelisk has much more prowess. But like Liszt says, a traditional style hookah will get you a MUCH better smoke for half the price.

And you will be able to clean it.

I just recently bought a Gyro 2 weeks ago. My choice was the same as yours. I am glad I decided on the Gyro. It is awesome. The smoke is great. I like it also because you take it all apart and clean it easily. I also upgraded to the Nammor hoses and phunnel bowl. If you get the Gyro, you will not be dissapointed.
