Default Bent Stem Advice?

When I got my KM Pearl I noticed the stem was a little bent. This doesn't really bother me too much, but it does lean quite a bit more than I'd like when on a soft surface like carpet.

Is there a safe way to bend the stem back to a straighter position? I'd much rather have a bent hookah than a broke one, and I don't have much knowledge in the area of bending steel.

It's bent. If you look down the stem you can see it curve almost enough to not be able to see out of the end of it.

It's really not a big deal though. I just figured I'd ask to see if anyone else had the same problem.

I'll try and take pictures later, but I'm trying not to procrastinate too much. I took the day off to work on a research paper and it's not going so well lol.

You can sort of see it in those pics.

The bend seems to be coming from the weld an inch or so below the pear.

i wouldn't rebend it , the tin used to solder these things is "crappy" , like when u melt tin of a circuit-board and re-use it , it (i dunno how to say this) but it loses its grip , it seperates / breaks off ,

its usually fragile ...

I would just leave it the way it is. I don't think it should make too much of a difference.

I was kind of thinking that.

It's definitely not worth breaking a nice KM.

Thanks guys.

if you just got it i would contact the seller and complain

as to straighten it you may be able to get a brass rod, round off the end so it doesnt scratch the inside and tap it down (you need one that is almost tight inside but not, also make sure you have enough to be able to grab the end of the rod if it gets stuck.

as to the solder being fragile, thats bull, you should be able to get enough give on it and be well in the clear. its probably a plumbers type solder which i dont know the physics of well behind it but i know that silver solder (brazing technically) when you heat it up zinc leaches out and makes it harder to melt and after a while can make the joint pit and weak but it takes a decent amounts of heat

mckheu i would bet that the solder is getting dirty so it wont flow again, not sure how that solder is but im guessing it is cored with flux, the flux burns off and it can no longer clean it self

I may need to be corrected on this but I think that KMs have a solid tube going down the middle of the stem. I believe this is true because when you run your cleaning brush thru it, you would feel the indentations if it didn't. It would also be somewhat hard to clean otherwise. Therefore, the solder joints shouldn't be a problem.

As long as its not tipping or dropping coals on your floor you are fine. It could be a lot worse. But I bet the damn thing hits like a monster!

Its pretty tough to bend a metal tube unless it is really hot. Not to say it can't be done but it isn't really something that would be easy to do by just grabbing it and bending. It may not look right but if it isn't causing problems I wouldn't mess with it.

It's really not that big of a deal. It doesn't affect it's functionality and it's not even worth the hassle to be honest.
