Default Talk me out of buying a KM

So I've got a dilemma, right now I've got a 29" Egyptian style hookah from hookahcompany and I've been considering getting a little 13" Dragon from SaharaSmoke for when I travel or if I just want to take a hookah out somewhere with me (it comes with a case and a bunch of accessories). But after reading all the reviews on this site for KM's I've really been thinking about dropping another $90 on a new hookah. The hookah I have now works all right, but I was just wondering if there really is a noticeable improvment from a somewhat generic egyptian style hookah? Also, is there any bags large enough to fit these pipes? Most of the bags I've come across don't seem large enough to fit the larger egyptian style.

Basically, talk me out of spending more money haha
Thanks for the input

- Josh

Everyone should have a KM, Anyways do not buy the Dragon. The Sahara Genie is a FAR better hookah or at least buy the Sahara Zen. The dragon is extremely small and difficult to use. Spend the extra few dollars and get one of the others. Know this through owning both a Dragon bell vase and a Genie.

I am sorry but to me this is like saying talk me out of buying Campbell's soup. The Kroger brand is just fine for me but after seeing the commercials I can't help but want Campbell's. It is the same thing just without the label. I say stick with the Kroger brand there is no reason to pay twice as much for basically the same product.

But! KMs are soooo good! And you can join the KM club! And they are just better even if I haven't tried his generic egyptian I KNOW they are better!

Fezzik, you sir, are a nazi.

(hopes mods get the reference)

On a serious note, fezzik is probably right. If you think your hookah is fine then it probably is fine. So unless you want something new and shiny you can gawk at, don't buy a new KM.

Lol I know the hookah madness gets to ya...But think before ya buy!

KMs are very good but think first....

Do you REALLY need it?

Do you have enough money to spare while you can use the money for more important things like gas for your car and bills/

Haha everyone is gonna hate me for saying this. But, in the long run, it really saves your ass from buying stuff you don't need.

If you feel your hookah is still good...Why buy another? I'd say only buy a new hookah if its broken or is starting to rust.

IDK, that;s the way I see it. When it comes to buying stuff, imo, I only buy stuff I actually NEED or else I'm gonna be buying stuff on impulse and that's really bad.

yeah I was just curious of an improvement over what I have, if its not that much of a difference then I just won't bother.

Maybe a bag or new hoses and bowls for what I have now would be a better choice

buy some of the fitting tape or whatever you call it, put it on every possible place where your hookah could leak and it's gonna work like a beaut, imho. i have a no namer and wouldn't change it for all the mz's and km's in the world. plus it was amazingly cheap =]

Hi there! To answer your question, I couldn't help but think of a fellow HP member here named Ahmad (The Egyptian) who has informed me several times that generic Egyptian hookahs are actually better than KM's. If you are going to throw out $90 I have to rep my Syrian heritage here, go for a Nour Syrian . KM's are very good and I think they are equal to Nour Syrians, but KM's are easier to clean at times because of the difference in material. If you wanna throw down $90 on a new hookah, go for it. Otherwise, I would have to agree highly with Jilly because as for me, the bills are kicking my Arab ass like Vitor Belfort vs Wanderlei Silva (if there are any MMA fans here you know what I mean ) so think it through and best of luck to you!

As a fellow non-biased Syrian, I agree w/ Mohamed, go w/ a Nour.

The KM is alright, but really, if you want to travel, a nice durable brass stem that is long but not too long may be what you need.

Yeah if you are just itching to drop 90+ I am not by any means one to say don't do it. I sure am not doing my part to help the economy so someone has to pick up the slack. I don't know if signing my paycheck over to bill collectors counts as helping the economy so I will say it doesn't. lol. Now I will say that upgrading your hose and bowl could make a lot of difference. Go that route and go ahead and splurge on the expensive tobacco. You know you want it. All I am saying is if I were in your shoes and mine was just fine for me I would consider accessories to shake things up long before I thought I just need a 90 dollar hookah so I can say I have a 90 dollar hookah.

Look at what a KM costs, and imagine how much tobacco that'll buy!

Then imagine the hours of smoking pleasure all that shisha'll bring!

I wouldn't do it, I love my KM to death but if you're hurting on money it's not that great. you can get any MYA or MZ to smoke just as well with a razan/phunnel/vortex, so it's not a I need it right now expenditure.

Look I have a KM and I love the damn thing to hell. Now you said you need something for portability right?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Acrylic-One-Hose...3286.m20.l1116
I bought from the same vendor and let me tell you. It is a damn good pipe. The base is acrylic so you have to put in effort to break it. The stem is solid brass so It can't rust on you. It comes in this cardboard carrying case with a handle and everything. And the pull is real easy. And for about $25 shipped you will have plenty of money left over for shisha! (like any mya it can't purge to save its life. But I can fix that!
