Default Chamber type question

So i've been searching and searching about the different style of chambers. Everytime i think i understand it.....i confuse myself more by thinking about it.

So im going to try to draw some pictures in paint to see if i understand it correctly....

A) Open Common chamber- like many chinese pipes

B.) Traditional

C.) Plated Common

My confusion is between B and C. Is this the correct thinking of each type?

Ok cool, thanks man.

So what do KM's have? Traditional?

I read that traditionals are best at purging and how good of a draw you get. I understand how purging can be better(i think LOL) but how is the draw superior to a NON-plated common?

KMs are traditional and yeah, they purge amazingly well, one blow and all smoke is gone. So if you **** up and burn your bowl its an easy fix.

The big difference in draw between a KM and a chinese with a common chamber is just the gauge of the holes and the fact that most chinese hookahs have those craparse ball bearings that get gumbed up and restrict airflow. KMs have no "autoseal" system as they are single hose it is unneccesary so you have unrestricted draw.

There's chinese pipes that have a ball bearings in the hose port too?

I believe my hookah was chinese made. You saw the one i made in my other thread. The hose port is open to the inside of the "junction" part that goes on top of the vase, and the other port has a ball bearing inside with a cap that screws on top.

So i understand a traditional setup will purge MUCH better than mine, but i was trying to figure out the draw aspect. And if the hole that leads to the hose part is reasonably small, thats why a KM could be superior correct?

correct, the wider the diameter, the better the draw, other factors such as hose choice will vary results as well.

haha thanks man, your explanations in old posts is what helped me understand.

So why did they even use a plated common heart? I dont see the advantage at all. The regular open common heart is easy/cheap to make compared to a traditional, but i dont see why you would add a plate in there.

Is the chamber above the plate completely open? Or is it like two chambers seperating the hose and purge valves? (on the plated common)

It's completely open. I have no idea why they make it this way, mostly seen on Syrian rigs that come apart and some Chinese crap. It doesn't really aid the smoking experience, and it is impossible to get in there and clean it out. The draw is so tight that your lungs are sore the day after 1 session, even from mellow smoking style.

Just to clarify why the traditional purges better than an open chamber (and obviously open plated chamber) are these pictures of where air goes when you blow back in correct to support the better purging?

Open chamber

Traditional

Yes, you are right. With a common chamber when u want to purge, you just get rid of the smoke that is placed in the chamber. With a traditional one, u can get rid of nearly all of the smoke that is in the base. The draw on a common chamber hookah can be easier compared to a traditional hookah, if the hose port is wider, than the traditionals tube width.
