Default Question about after taste...

Ok so basically my hookah is awesome, smokes brilliantly but there's a slight problem, before when i used to smoke mint, it would have a full flavour now it just tastes awfull and it's the same with any other flavour it's like there's a disgusting after taste.

Do you think it might be because it's worn out? Even after cleaning it, it remains to taste quite awfull like there's alot of different flavours clumped up in there.

I like this hookah and i'm wondering if it can be sorted out, i don't think i'll find a better one.

Help will be appreciated folks.

My advise: change the hose.

Give it a proper clean, with lemon juice and baking soda, everything apart from the hose, and then let it sit in a mixture of it over night and rince it in the morning

ive been smoking form the same KM for almost a year now and dont have a problem besides with anis based shishas like DA but even then within 2 smokes usually the flavors go away. i would say clean like there is no tomrrow. i clean my hookah completely once a week and rinse it out after every bowl. maby you need to clean the heart well with some pipe cleaners and use lemon juice backing soda on your steam real well. I do notice mints hang around a while also but usually pass in 2 or 3 smokes. I actually enjoy a touch of mint with allot of shisha so ill smoke thoes flavors after a bowl of straight mint.

Yeah like John said I would say it is your cleaning methods. Mint is a powerful flavor, you have very, very dirty hookah my friend.

If it is a Chinese rig you will have one hell of a time getting the lingering flavor out.. and it probably won't come all the way out no matter what you do. If this is the case, you need to purchase a better quality hookah.

check the bowl...I know you said you are cleaning it, but sometimes if you are mistakenly burning your shisha, you'll soon have residue in the bowl, is black, dark, and you may be burning that with with your shisha, tainting the taste...

Another thought is have you recently used anything in the base? MILK for example? I had a bad experience at a friends house who i guess forgot to wash the bowl after a smoke where he mixed a bit of cream and milk into the base (for a thicker, creamy smoke texture) and let it sit a day. I guess he thought just washing it out after a hot summers day would suffice.... SOUR!

So clean clean clean. If your still really stuck with lemon juice and baking soda, try apple vinegar. let it sit for an hour and then wash it out with lemon juice and baking soda again to get the taste out...it may be there for a smoke slightly, but the vinegar is my last resort if I just can't clean it enough...

i have noticed on the myas (and i assume it would be the same for any other brass hookah that has raw brass in the stem) that you get a bad smell that builds up and gives a horrid taste if you dont clean it enough or well.

i found that scrubbing (like hard core scrubbing with a brush and dish soap that builds a huge lather) works well, just may need to rinse and re brush a few times to make sure the soap is all gone, then smell it, if you still have some weird smell use lemon and or baking soda and that should kick it out well.

check each piece individually, smell it and inhale through it and see if you get a weird taste (not set up and not like with a bowl going on it) if you get a taste on a part that means thats your part that needs more cleaning

Myas, eventually, get a ghost smell that is unable to be killed. The brass is rough on the inside and the parts he brush cannot get to absorb all those flavors overtime, then it's time for a new hookah. This is the main reason I don't use Myas mainly.

Alcohol brings on the oxidation process, so it will rust or oxidize even quicker.

Baking soda is a natural deodorizer, Lemon Juice is a natural cleansing agent, neither contain alcohol, so they are best.

false, alcohol does not make it oxidize any faster it degreases, which depending on the area can lead to faster oxidation but honestly brass isnt to bad of a metal with oxidation. also beer has so much other junk in it that i dont think its a very good degreaser.

also brushing in general will degrease because it is friction and will remove the layer of junk and oxidation any way.

honestly a good lather of dish soap or soaking in water and dish soap will help a good amount then the lemon juice and baking soda will help kick out any residual junk.

if it really came down to it that you could not get the flavor out a strong house hold acid left in the stem for a little bit should lightly etch it clean, i would have to look up a little bit what you would have to use to do so but it shouldnt be to complicated
