Question whats the best way to light natural coals?

alright, i've used al-fakher quick lights pretty much every time i've smoked just because they are so convenient to light. i want to upgrade to natural coals but i have one problem. i take my hookah EVERYWHERE i go. wherever my truck is, thats where my hookah is.

i want to use natural coals just because they burn cleaner, hotter, and longer. but i take my hookah everywhere. what do you guys think is the best option to light a natural coal being away from a stove?

also, since i'm always somewhere else when i'm smoking; should i stick with the ql's, or should i upgrade?

i agree that there are better ones, but i have never had a tasteless quicklight. The one that seemed to contribute ALMOST no taste was ******* hookah quickies, but 3 kings, all the cheap quicklights, ahklas, etc have always given some taste....so i stick to naturals unless i am really desperate.

I used to be too lazy to use naturals, but when I finally tried them, they really are worlds apart form ql's.

Look into a single coil burner, I'd suggest one from walgreens:
http://www.walgreens.com/store/produ...&id=prod350527

Cheap, simple, and it works like a charm.

There are also single coil burners out there that you can plug into your car, I know amazon.com has a couple, I just don't have a link offhand.

A fire pit is actually the best way :P We have a fire place at home and it takes about 1 mins to get the naturals red hot. But it's a bit unconvinient.
Those butane camping stoves like this one are you best bet

Cheers

Yep I was thinking a power inverter like they have at the truck stops for truckers to hook refrigerators and microwaves into their living space with. You can get them pretty cheap my brother-in-law had one for his truck to take video games with him. About any small appliance like the 10 dollar walgreens stove would work.

Check the wattage of your power converter. If it is less than 1000 watts, it won't work for the walgreens single burner. The converter needs to be at least slightly more than 1000 watts otherwise you will overload it.

electric coil is easiest, blow torch works but some times is hard to light throughly for me.

fastest would be get a metal bucket, light a match, put it in and dump some LOX in it

but no seriously dont try that, the coil is the best solution

You made me do it. You made me do it.

Just mix up some finely ground aluminum and finely ground rust about one to one by volume and mix it up really well then put a magnesium strip in there and light it. The coal will be lit shortly after the fuse burns out. Warning there may not be any coal left.

i got that far and stopped, just shook my head and said, damnit fezzik,

hmmm thermite and lox would be fun.

you know i think all men are pyros in some form, as children we play with matches, then fire crackers, then when we get older we get guns and want explosives and high end semi advanced chemistry
