Default Heat problem with phunnel bowl.

so everytime i set up my punnel bowl theres either too much heat or not enough.

SETUP: I put two layers of regular foil on poke lots of tiny holes all over except the center and i use 3 CH nats to get it going. im also using fantasia which is very juicy.

using three to get it going makes it a little harsh but smokable but then after about 5min it gets way harsh, but if i take one off it produces hardly any smoke at all. its crazy cuz i see ppl using 3-4 coals on a phunnel sometimes and its not harsh

thats how i did it, try less holes and a wind cover if you have one. even try just enough holes so that the pull is not limited any, that will help keep it more heat.

what i do with the phunnel is put a ring as far out as i can then a second ring half way in then add and mix/match holes as needed

i am using egyptian clay for everything but tangiers these days and for tangiers, I use their bowl and over pack, drive the toothpic in all the way to the bottom of the bowl and poke 10 times more holes than I would in a clay bowl.

i had those problems too..it always seems like u need a big amount of heat to get it going and then bang tooo f-ing hot take off one coal not enough! i was pissed... but i made a screen for my tangiers head...made out of a starbuzz 100g tin lid... and for some reason i can use 3 1in exoticas or 3 1in pieces of natural fingers and it works perfect... lol im prob just getting lucky tho... but the lid does make the coals a little higher than with the usual foil.

try this

one foil, like DMC says "SHINY SIDE DOWN MAN" LOL
use 2 whole coals, pack it loose and a modified windcover to keep the heat up..

phunnel bowls (tangiers) are pretty thick so its gonna need time to heat up

you see ppl put that many coals in videos bc they wanna show off the clouds for like 2-5minutes until it burns haha
with my phunnel i use 3 to get it goin for 10-15mins then i remove one...then throw on the mod windcover

use 3 to get it going with a windcover then remove a coal or lean that coal on the side of one of the others, thats what I do and it works like a charm. Also, I let the bowl heat up for 5 minutes with the windcover on it before drawing on the hose. Seems to make a huge difference in my sessions.

Fantasia will burn to crap with 3 coals. What you need is 2 coals + windcover.
