My friend brought me back a small indian hookah from india and the bowl it comes with is HUGE. If you smoked shisha out of it it would be at least 50 grams...almost two inches deep and fairly wide as well.
My question is what is normally smoked out of this? And how would I obtain it? I can't see this bowl being used for shisha at all... I ll have a video review up once it is done uploading. EDIT: youtube video link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnvI9AwRN6M Last edited by bradedup; January 12th, 2009 at 07:47 PM. |

They get pure Tobacco, they call it Tommaku break it up and put it in the bowl. They then get natural sugar cane, which looks like a gold rock, break it up and add it to the bowl on top of the tobbacco. Then they cover it all directly (no tin foil) with natural wood shavings and then light it all up. It smokes for hours and they smoke it all day, night long.
They don't like the arabic type hookahs we smoke because it's no way near as strong as the stuff they smoke but they do acknowledge that Shisha gives off alot more clouds. Last edited by Luv2Smoke; January 12th, 2009 at 07:54 PM. |

Ive just seen your video and i have to say that after going to Pakistan on seven lengthy occasions, i have never seen a hookah like that. Its possible that it could be their version of something that is used to smoke stuff other than tobacco and you're friend may have not realised.
Indian hookah's tend to look like this:

I actually have some of that tobacco and have thought of mixing it with honey and smoking it in my hookah but im a bit scared because this shit is strong. I'll take a picture of it and put it on tomorrow.

Unfortunately I am pretty ignorant about hookah culture in India but I do know a little about tombac. I smoke it semi-regularly out of a huge ceramic bowl and you can either smoke it as described by Luv2Smoke (never did that way but then i'm not that up on India) or you smoke the tobacco straight or do it the fancy, complicated way I described a week a go or so. You can see a photo of my tombac bowl here: http://s281.photobucket.com/albums/kk230/HFlettner/

It holds about 70 grams of tombac. I never used for anything else.
