Default Al-Fakher - Soft Black shisha?

http://www.alfakher-online.com/index.php?q=node/261

what is this? i don't have the slightest clue. is it just like a plain molasses, traditional flavor? a-f only sells it in a brick, so it must have a high demand or something...

If I had to guess, I would say it might be for people who want to create their own shisha.

From what I understand it is a plain molasses flavor like Nakhla Zaghloul.

I thought Ark Sous was AF's licorice flavor?

Hajo always says it's like Nakhla Zag.

AF's soft Black is the best product that AF has ever made. It's an "unflavoured" black style moassel and it's far better then Zaghloul (which I like as well, just not as much) or anything else you can buy by the major brands that sell stuff in the U.S. Basically, it's a very rich and full bodied taste with fig molasses, toffee and other flavours I can't identify mixed with high grade Turkish tobacco and molasses. Mazing stuff.

Why do people say that? I don't get it.

Wouldn't you want to enjoy the smoke...? It's not going to smoke correctly with molasses in it, it's taste like burning sugar like when you burn starbuzz or anything else.

Tombeik is what is smoked coals direct.

Yeah I cant imagine putting coals onto Zaghloul would work too well. Its the flavor thats supposed to be traditional, not the tobacco itself. Like he said, it would burn and it may even be caramelized.

Side Note: I have a brick of Tombeik, and I am legit scared to smoke it.

Zaghoul is supposed to be smoke without foil. I don't prefer it that way and I always mix Zagh with non fruity flavors like caramel, vanilla, chocolate, etc and I use foil with it. If you all are interested in AF Soft Black, you should try Havana's Pipe flavor. It's a plain molasses flavor and you will taste something similar to Nakhla Zagh. on the exhale. I really enjoy it.

Not exactly. Black style moassels no matter the brand is always less harsh, lastly longer and has better flavour when you smoke it with foil and decent heat management. Some people do smoke it the way one would smoke tombac. I've done it both ways and that is definitely not a good idea. As to Zaghloul specifically I can't say how it's normally done in Egypt because i've only been to Egypt a few times and only smoked Zaghloul there once (the guy that set it up used a screen). Still, in all the other places I've been black style moassel is almost always smoked with foil or a screen.

Tombac on the other hand is smoked without a screen/foil about 75% in my experience no matter where you go.

Interesting. I was always told to smoke Zagh. without foil. A few Middle Eastern shop keepers told me this as well. I've only tried it without foil once and I was not pleased.

That is interesting. Off hand i'd guess that some shop keepers assume that Zaghloul is tombac which is to say that they don't know their stock. Very often people that run shops don't know anything about what they sell. I once went to a shop that specialized in handmade rugs run by an Iranian who tried to tell me that an item I was interested in was made by Berbers when it obviously was from Armenia. I'm far from a textile expert yet I knew that the guy was full of shit. I once had an Indian guy running a shisha lounge tell me that Rolland QLs were the best coals on the market so don't presume that ethnicity equals knowledge of anything.

Hajo i think that you are very knowlegable but 99% of hookah lounges in NY and NJ put the coal directly on the coal may be there is two ways to do it
