Default Syrian or Lebanesse?

When I bought this I was told it was a syrian, But looking at certain hookahs on the net, I found it resembles a Lebanesse Type.
Does anyone know for sure?Attachment 1226

Actually, it looks like alot of the mid range products I've seen in the Syrian market. And the male-to female bowl is almost exclusively indicative of a Syrian narghile. I would say it's a Syrian.

Lebanese narguile also use the male to female bowl-style. The stem is hollow and it really feel "not syrian" to the touch.

They come in a pretty wide range of styles.

It looks like a lower end model of Lebanese style.

We are not talking about production country here but style origin. Syrian sytle never uses metal spinning. The bottom part of the stem is spun so i'd say its not syrian style.
lebanese hookah style is a mixture between syrian and egyprian. They use metal spinning but the have engravings and painted parts like this stem does.
It might be made in Syria but its definately not a syrian style narguile

when were we NOT talking about prod. country. When a thread is titled ''syrian or lebanese'', both of which are countries, it's a safe bet that someone is wondering which of those 2 countries this shisha was produced. I appreciate your nuanced approach but I thought it was pretty clear.

You cant tell for sure for any hookah. I've seen etched egyptians, solid egyptians, metal spun syrians etc.
I call mine "the lebaneese" cz it is my only lebanese rig.

This post is stupid, the only reason Lebanon exists is because of Sykes-Picot, the cultures and dialect and food are basically the exact same.

What I'm saying is, if its Lebanese, its Syrian, if its Syrian, its Lebanese.

You can make it easy on yourself, give up and trying to find which side of the mountains it came from and just call it a Levantine Hookah.

if you want a hose adapter, act like its syrian.

if you want anything else, then well anything else will work for it, if you want a new base, just measure the one you have.

Ya! Its from Jezzine at the base of Jabel Safi! "Greater Syria" (Palestine,Lebanon,Syria and North Jordan) was split up by the "Allied forces" who won World War 1 and took that part of the Middle East from Turkish domination.Look at a map of the Middle-East, most countries have 100% straight borders which the English& French drew.If you call it "hookah" its egyptian style. "Narghile" "Nargeelah" is Syrian style hookah.

I think I'll have to agree with you on the matter of Sykes-Picot. As much as I like Lebanese classical musicians and John from CH the Syrian argument seems better supported to me on the nationality issue. Of course it could be convincingly argued that it doesn't matter since in practical terms Syria won't be able to gain any more territory. Also, since I know a lot more Syrians then Lebanese I will admit that that that has influenced my thinking but I try to be objective about these sorts of things.

Anyway, i've not spent enough time in Lebanon to get a good since as to how much difference in style and production methods exist but from what little I have seen it seems like the differences are minor to nonexistent.

Looking at the pic BigE put up my guess is that it's a Syrian but as photolinger said I think it's a meaningless distinction.

And Texas was in Mexico .... so Texan food should be called Mexican food ..... and anything made in New York should be called Dutch (see info on New Amsterdam anywhere), and ..... hey ...... The US itself was a british colony and Americans were british subjects, so American products should be called British !!!

Enough of this Syrian propaganda (Lebanon is Eastern Syria) bull ..... The guy asked whether this is Syrian or Lebanese, so we should give him an answer, not a lecture on political sciences claiming without proof that Lebanon is part of Syria ....

P.S: Few months ago Syria acknowledged Lebanese autonomy and opened the first Syrian embassy in Beirut. Some people really like being more royal than the king.
