Default Here is one of my hookahs. Should it have grommets?

I have this hookah, and it has always had this hose with wooden ends. Well, Ive always just jammed the end of the hose into the port on the hookah, and it seems to make a good seal (assuming because its wood). Well... Should I actually have grommets for this guy?

I am also about to place an order for a nammor hose... will I need some grommets for this guy?

Oh... and Im picking up a phunnel bowl as well. Will I need a bigger grommet for that as well??

Heres my hookah:

Not very good pix, but you should get the idea.

Does anyone know what "kind" this is anyway? The guy I got it from said that he got it from a Romanian girl that had bought it over there.... Any ideas?

in the metal hose port there should be rubber grommets that seal it, wood will not seal unless it is wet and unless it is unfinished and waterlogged that wont even work.

you can use wet paper towel until you get grommets to make a ghetto seal.

that may be your issue that you were having you posted about in your other thread. is there a grommet for the bowl?

Exactly. But if you don't have any or have some being shipped then in the meantime use a little bit or wet paper towel

yeah pickup a smaller grommet for the small phunnel. nammor hoses are GIANT, so pickup some different grommets for that. it looks like you could fit it in there.

if your not ordering a grommet wrap electrical tape around the hose to it seals, or any area thats fit air tight. the phunnel your ordering should come with a grommet because the grommets that comes with the hookahs are normally to thick (from my experience) since phunnels use thin grommets.

with out grommets, there is no air tight seal, and your not smoking the shisha properly.

A friend of mine uses his hookah without grommet for the hose and there is no problem with that. He has a wooden end to the hose as well. The hose seals great and the hookah smokes really good as well. So I think it is not always important to have a grommet.

yes, you need grommets for every hose and every bowl. no hookah can be tight, without grommets. and they are really cheap, so no problem to get some.
for a funnel bowl, you will need a standard grommet. im using a normal MYA bowl grommet for the tangiers funnel and it fits well.

grommets, for sure, but in the mean time electrical tape works really well too, instead of paper towels. I find its a little sturdier.
