Peach iced tea really needed acclimation when I got it. It's a robust smoke to say the least. Don't expect a strong peach flavor from it but it can e nice.

I find some packs of Tangiers I got just never changed. It didn't matter how long they sat out that BBQ smell never went away. On every order I make at least one flavor is like this. It really bothers me and I do like Tangiers but it makes me not want to order it knowing that every time its a gamble.

Oh and yea you are doing it right. Just be sure to stir it up a few times.

I cant believe a company's QC would pick this up and change it WTF that makes me not even want to try it

lately ive gotten tangiers and it was good to go out of the pack (and im in VA, totally different humidity). i had a few at first that were bad but the last bunch have been great, one of them started to smell like BBQ (its more like smokey/soy sauce).

ive found a lot of tangiers flavors dont have strong smells so as long as it doesnt smell wrong/off and has some of its flavor in the smell it should be fine

as to the acclimating, ya thats fine, i put it in a ziplock/tupperware/ what ever brand shallow wide container and just let it acclimate in there if it needs any, then just store it, dont lose any juice that way

your responded as i was posting my other post so i didnt catch it in it

its not a QC issue, it is how the tobacco is reacting to the dew point/humidity, eric can explain the scientific reason in very good detail, and for the most part acclimating it will make it smoke perfectly fine, some times there are issues but same with every other shisha. the package gives you instructions on it how to acclimate and says you may get that smell but acclimating should resolve it.

the unwashed nature of it is causing the issues, the lucid line which is washed (other than that it is the same) doesnt have the issues, at least i have not heard of them

The "bbq" smell comes from the dark form of molasses they use. We associate a natural molasses smell with bbq sauce a lot in the states. A good molasses bbq sauce can be awesome but it doesn't really smoke well, especially when mixed with the flavors that are being replicated in shisha tobacco. Also the tobacco they use is strong, robust and might even be flue cured for some blends which will give a smokey flavor and quality to the smoke and the flavor.

I have only experienced this smell with one batch I got but just about every batch I have had has taken time and work to get smelling like it should.

It really is a matter of luck and conditions. Here in MA where the weather is in a constant state of fluctuation it is very hard to get right.
