Talking Did your charcoal burst into flames? Mine did.

I recently started using Excelsior charcoal. I blow on them after I light them so the ash over faster. Sometimes they just burst into blue flames for about 20 seconds. I usually let em burn because the gasses that come out might as well burn off before reaching my lungs. Did it ever happen to you?

yessireybob, that should happen with all coals once you get them close together, and get a lot of air on them, when you stop the "wind" effect they light up for a bit. funstuff. btw how are those coals treating you?

Very well actually! No after-taste and they last for a 30-40 minute sessions if you don't shake the ash off of them. I do smoke alone but I take frequent drags so I bet they wouldn't drop under 30 mins with more than 2 smokers. They do not explode or crumble but the smell they give off during lighting is rather awfull (not that any quicklites smell good when firing up)

ya when the coals are piled up or on burners they get flames on them, as long as there isnt any smoke coming off of them they should have burned off clean

I mean just burst int flames . .not explode. .that only happens with crappy QLs that have phospor deep in teh cracks. .when they get up to temperature they throw pieces all around the room. Small enough 2 be hard to pick up but big enough to burn a noticeable hole thru the carpet.
