definitely not. I bought one identical to that one to start off and it didn't even get the bottom of the coal red after 15min. gotta go with a metal coil burner

I think that is for heating coffee or tea...not hot enough. I use my gas range, as I don't have electric range or the space for coil heater. I take off the 'grid' and put down some foil, but leave enough space all around for both the flames and airflow. Then I place the cocos next to the central spire (where gas come out from) and turn them once after 5 minutes. After 10 minutes they are ready. Works for me. Open window unless you like CO2 headaches or death.....

I would try really try to find a coil burner. Gas burners do work but if you aren't watching closely you can end up with half the coal burned off. They're also really difficult to flip on a gas burner unless you have some really long tongs, but that's just my opinion.
