wait until the coals ash over, should take about 15 minutes, and then simply drop them in the tray from about 1.5/2 inches above the tray. all ash should fall off. repeat as needed.

First off throw on a windcover and forget about them for 15 minutes. Flip the coals over and rotate them on the hookah bowl. CH QL ash in krumbles and stick together. This is the only price you pay for buying the best damn QL around

Alright, so when my coals ash over I drop them around 2 inches into my tray. Anyone have a coal pattern they like to use for a phunnel? Today i tried 4 squares and and put the coals opposite of each other, every time i ashed i would move it to the other 2 squares not being used.

don't get fancy w/the shapes of your foil pattern. You'll just be splitting hairs. 3 or 4 rings of holes(about 3/16'' apart) should be fine for most products. And while the windcover idea posted above will work, it's not necessary. If the coal is completely lit you should be ready to smoke a minute or 2 after they hit the foil and simply follow through w/a proccess similar to the one I described above.

I should probably just go with the rings of holes. I wanted to try something different today since it was my first time with CH QL coals. I hate how the mya qt ash tray is soo small >:[

smoke outdoors and the wind will take care of it.

you'll learn to not worry about a little ash. Just ash them periodically.

its notrmal to have a little bit of ash on the coals...you only need to ash them when there's a lot of ash and its starting to fall off the coal.
