Default Tombac Bowl

I've gotten a few inquires about my tombac bowl and rather then answer a bunch of people with the same info I figured i'd post it.

Mine is a glazed clay tombac bowl which is not as good as the solid brass versions but those are very expensive and damn hard to get these days although if you the Iranian narghile that is being sold at the hookah company you can get one.

Mine is 2 3/4" U.S. in diameter, has a height about 3 3/4" U.S., the holes are arrayed in a square pattern of 5 holes each of which is 1/4" U.S. in diameter and the depth is 1/2" U.S. which is a bit shallow for the application but fine if you want a shorter session. typically the depth is 3/4" to an inch. The inlet hole which mounts to the stem is about an inch in diameter. The bowl weighs about 6 oz. U.S.

Although the inlet hole is too large for any stem you can buy in the states (save probably the Iranian one I mentioned earlier) I don't have a problem getting a seal since the bowl is heavy and the bottom surface is smooth. Basically it works great for what it's meant to do.

Same dimensions & weight? I've seen endless Egyptian bowls that are the same style but much smaller I smoked moassel out of this think once and it held about 70 grams worth and it made a huge mess. Anyway, if you got something of roughly the same dimensions and weight for about 3 bucks you need to let me in on your source as i've never seen anything else like it in the states.

I guess that would be great for a multi-hose if it can hold 70g's, that pretty impress.

you know those party bowls are probably the easiest thing we can grab here that are close. my friend has one and it honestly smokes well and can go for hours, its probably about the depth as your hajo or a bit less but its about the width

I guess that means I could use my big Egyptian bowl.
It's 3" wide and 3/4" deep.

Large, wide bowls are fine but they can't get too deep (more then an inch) and the holes need to be larger then they are typically on bowls made for moassel or else you don't get enough airflow to smoke with out deep inhales which is definitely something to avoid with tombac. Ideally I should get a massive brass tombac bowl but they are impossible to find in Western countries.

Typically they are a single cast piece that often are decorated with fins running around the outer diameter. They are not hard to come by in counties where tombac is popular and in the West immigrants bring them with them but i've seen them for sale in Europa. Typically they are very heavy 400-500g and simple in design. Since I only smoke tombac about once or twice a week I've never felt the need to get one as what I have works just fine.
