Default Packing techniques for different tobaccos?

I've heard a lot of things about different tobaccos requiring different ways of packing to get the best smoke and flavor from it. So, let's hear everyone's techniques.

I know Tangiers requires a very dense pack and Nakhla requires a pretty dense pack as well. I've heard Al Fakher you should pack pretty light and for me I've always had great experience from lightly packing Starbuzz also.

What you got?

honestly tangiers is the only real difference and even at that ive found its not that big of a deal. the bowl is more the determining factor of it.

i have heard that AF needs to be packed a bit harder with the newer cut.

it all comes down to personal preference. i have packed SB as light as i could and then pretty freaking dense and there is not much difference, maybe a little more flavor and harder draw.

i have been fluffing my tobacco in to the bowl and the tamping it down just a touch to get a good sized gap (im smoking nakhla all the time though) and it smokes well. harder to get harshness and decent flavor

ya it takes a while to get nicotine tolerance and bodies are different. also depends on how you smoke (chaining deep hits or taking shallow hits with breaks)

I pack Tangeirs very hard. Not quite pushing down on it as hard as I can, but close.

With Nakhla, I also pack fairly tight. It smokes a lot better. Much like the concept of packing Tangiers down harder, it helps to reduce harshness and increase flavor.

AF, I shake the tub up and more or less pack it as is when I toss it in the bowl. I do pack it down a little bit so its a little under the rim.

I try a " tester " bowl of each shisha that I get in, even if it is a " staple " in my shisha rotation, cause sometimes they mix it different. I think that my packing depends on what mood I am too...how much I want to get a buzz or not. Great question BTW, thanks for asking it.

ya i would consiter it more that if you pack a tangiers bowl up pretty hard it will last longer and give a stronger buzz from just getting more nicotine. for me it doesnt matter, i dont get much buzzes any more
