Default Heba Diffuser?

What do you guys think of the heba diffuser? Does it actually make a difference?

And what exactly does it do?

Think of it as a really tight net that breaks apart the big air bubbles from your stem into smaller ones... Then the water can filter the smoke more effectively to remove any micro particles that may be otherwise inhaled. That's what the marketing BS states, anyway. Some people have reported better flavor with the filter, but I think it's placebo.

all it does is break apart the smoke bubbles, it works amazing... smaller bubbles cool better because they have less surface area, that and it keeps you hookah from rattaling around as much so it also works as a silencer... I love it but I use wine in my base so the small bubbles make it bubble up into the hose, but for a water base, the best $20 you can spend, Also keep in mind your breaking up the smoke when it comes out, so it does thin your smoke a bit but you get smoother smoke in return.

Some people also claim that because nicotine is water soluble; the smaller bubbles and increased filtration also drastically reduces the amount of nicotine in the smoke.

Personally, I think the effect should be fairly negligible and that the preceding statements are blasphemy.

Lots of small bubbles have more surface area than fewer large bubbles :P.

The only benefit I see to it is that it quiets down the hookah if you like to smoke while watching tv/movies.

Yeah it makes the smoke bubbles smaller so it gets cleaner, also the smoke gets cooler and it makes smikng more silent.
Pretty useful

Heba is supposed to be a filter as well as a diffuser but its not free and its advertised as good for 15 smokes.

Why not use the regular sized "bent elbow" plastic straws? Two for a mini, 3 for a junior and 4 for large hookah.

You cut them according to bowl size and not only is it practically free, you can lengthen the size of the shaft, which is often the problem in some minis which force you to put water up so high.

I'll show the Heba, and the straws in photos. The straws can be longer if you want.

I've been using my diffuser for 6 months now, and i just replaced it, not cause it needs it just cause i ordered a new one for a friend and he decided he didnt want it. As to the claims of making the smoke better, I can't say that it has any effect. What I CAN say is that with it the smoke comes much more smoothly. When the diffuser is off I can feel the pop pop pop of pressure change as the large bubbles hit the surface. Personally I don't enjoy that feeling so I stick with the Heba Diffuser all the time.

Some hookahs have such a wide draw that when it bubbles you can feel it when inhaling, the heba diffuser helps this issue...

I have one, use it whenever i'm bored really. It does silence the hookah quite a bit, and does makes the bubbles much smaller. However, i do not notice a huge difference in the smoke performance, and for some hookahs and vases, it's sometimes difficult to use.

I gotta try the bendy staw thing to see if that gets my hookah to shut up like the heba does.... I love the fact that the heba actually helps the vibration and noise from the bubbles. the thing I don't like is that it traps strong scents and flavors but boiling it will ussually help as long as you keep an eye out not to melt any of the plastic on the the bottom of the pan... lol
