Also, (if I read the box correctly ) these are natural coals rather than quick lights. How long to naturals take to get going?

I use abu abdo alot. They're a cheap bulk natural coal. They burn fine and if your lucky, you got a box w/ some hefty lumps that can be broken up to your preffered size.

That's great to hear. And I did find some extremely large lumps in the bag. =)

First time using natural coals. Wasn't expecting the lumpy shape, I'm so used to the round pill-shaped quick light coals.

Sad thing is, my hose is rusted. =( Have to invest in a washable now. Don't know how my hose rusted though, I never got water anywhere near that thing. Oh well. Going to attempt a session with it tonight, though.

be sure they're completely lit through and through, both sides and you'll be fine. Some of the lighter pieces will burn up pretty quick, but the heavier chunks will treat ya well.

Thanks for the tip! Can I use a grill torch lighter to light these things? I know I can't use a standard lighter for naturals.

Again w/the pillowtalk.

Anyway, I would use the stove, you'll be there all day w/a torch. That's not to say it won't work however.

How easy is it to light it with a coil burner? You'd have to move it around a lot I would guess, so you can light all the parts of it?

Quick question, how safe are these things? I've never dealt with naturals before. From where my hookah is outside to my stove, it's a long ditance. Will I have fumes and sparks all over my kitchen or what?

It's not as easy as the rectangular coals where you just flip them oncee and it's done, but it's still really really easy.
