Lightbulb Your favorite "bargain" shisha brand?

Me and my friends just recently got into hookah and absolutely LOVE it.

Right now we've got just a small rig, but it works fine.

When we went to our nearest smoke shop we purchased the cheapest shisha they had just to "try out" and it happened to be HookahHookah and got some 3 Kings instant coals.

My question is this, what do you smoke when on a tight budget? From looking at reviews on the site I found out that HookahHookah is actually a pretty decent brand, but I was wondering if there are any other brands that don't lack much in flavor, buzz, or smoke in a small party setting with a relatively low price.

I appreciate it!

Nakhla is inexpensive and simply amazing. Get some natural coals and save yourself the headaches.

Thanks! I'll definitely look for Nakhla to try. Hopefully they've got some quality mint flavors because thats what I'm in the mood for.

try some nakhla... excellent flavor, decent buzz (if you're not a smoker), and good clouds.

also, try some ******* hookah quicklights, they're as good any natural i've used, and take a fraction of the time that a natural takes to light (but make sure they're fully lit before you put them on the bowl)

Thanks to Dunkel and Honestpuck I have seen the light and smoke Nakhla almost exclusively now. It almost makes me sad I need to smoke the rest of my 50g AF flavors. Nakhla is inexpensive and, in my opinion, is consistently good. I've yet to try a flavor that made me go "meh, this is horrible and I may never smoke it again". I'm not saying Nakhla doesn't have any lackluster flavors, but I have read and watched enough reviews to know which flavors to stay away from.

The Sheherezade, Fakhfakhina and Mizo lines will run you $1-$2 more, but are still reasonably priced in both the 50g and 250g sizes. For 250g of regular Nakhla you're going to spend about $3 less than AF and almost $10 less than for Starbuzz.

The only downside is that if you value cloud density you're going to go through coals a lot quicker. I have found that 2 naturals are sufficient to get get flavor, but 3 are necessary to get dense, fluffy clouds. Nakhla is not known for it's huge clouds, but is known to be very heat tolerant and if you throw one or more coals than you normally would on the bowl you'll get big clouds. Me, personally, clouds aren't that important. Yeah, they're fun and they impress your non-smoking friends, but if I can get consistently great flavor and save some coals I'm fine with medium'ish smoke.

As far as the buzz is concerned, I have to be honest and say I don't get the infamous Nakhla buzz. I think it's probably because I smoke American Spirit cigarettes and have for years, so .5% nicotine isn't going to get to me the way it would someone who doesn't smoke aside from hookah. You just have to be careful. There's a difference between being pleasantly buzzed and sick from smoking incorrectly. For some people both yield similar results and, therefore, find the buzz unpleasant. Nakhla, being an unwashed tobacco, commands a certain element of respect. Don't smoke on an empty stomach. Take adequate pauses between draws. Stay hydrated during the session.

Nakhla and hookah-Hookah/Hookah Freak for me.

Both have very different properties but share the cost efficiency and quality that I seek.

Nakhla has strong flavors and solid performance with a strong buzz.
HH has medium to light flavors and good performance with a very light buzz.

It depends on what I am in the mood for.

HH gets bashed a lot but frankly it's a great brand if you get the heat management down. It requires a light touch. My major issue with them is strength of flavor. A large number have light flavors rather than the powerhouse I prefer.

I smoke only start buzz, however its only cause my local shop only seems to carry it. They have a couple larger tins of AF, and they have fantasia. So i chose to smoke the starbuzz. However i am looking for a change in tobacco as well as the hookah.

Sorry i digress. just about everyone on here loves naklah. I have yet to experience the wonders of naklah yet. I still have yet to find it (except online). However, in my seaf=rching i have found that naklah is WAAAAY cheaper than starbuzz. So if you are in a small budget go with naklah.

Yea that price you posted for 250g of nakhla sounds about right, 250g should be about $10, and layalina is a very nice brand imo, it is about $3 more than nakhla for a 250g pack, but it still very decently priced.

Now i wouldn't call the golden line a great 'bargain' because of the price increase, but regular layalina is a decent shisha for a decent price

Thanks for all your advice! Sadly, i went to my shop today and all they had was Hookah Hookah and Starbuzz, so I went with HH again. They also had some weird ones in boxes with Arabic writing or something. They were decently priced, but I didn't really want to chance it.

I guess I'll have to get Nakhla online somewhere if I want it. Until then, HH hasn't let me down and I really don't know what I'm missing (yet) so everything should still be fine.

Ask your local shop owner if they could order it for you. If they are big on customer service they'll stock products they know will sell. Just a fair warning - once you smoke Nakhla you may never go back to anything else.
