Default Rust

Hello!

I have arrived here by recommendation from the youtube channel and i have a problem with rust.
Recently i have purchased my first hookah, from a local store. It looked fine at the time but a week in it started to rust and now it has a considerable amount of rust in the "heart" (where the hose connects and the valve is), i don't know what you really call this piece.
I've tried keeping it in vinegar for a few days and it did remove a lot of the rust but not so much the rust on the inside. I have no means of getting inside this part of the hookah and there is little more i can do to remove the rust. Now, this was a cheap hookah, no more than $25, and quality-wise there isn't much i can get in my country. The only name that i've found on a site from around here is Al-Faker.
I would like to replace this part because the rest of the hookah is fine and rust free. Unfortunately i have found no place that sells them.
I am on a student budget and can't afford the replace the whole thing, let alone with something that i can be sure won't be ruined quickly.
Please, if you can, support me with some advice.

Thank you,
cfs

I don't think there is much you can do about the rust, at least nothing worth the time and effort. Post a link to the Al Fakher and we'll let you know if it's legit. The AF hookahs are of very good quality.

EDIT: Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome and tip.

here's the link: http://narghilea.ro/narghilele.al_fakher_hookah.html

So, i wanted to know if i can replace that piece, as a temporary solution because i don't have any money for a new hookah and there are other things that i have to pay (other stuff that is broken ) before i can get to that.

I dont think it can really be a af? im sorry but i have two and none of the components can rust, in more inside matters you cant see in the heart of a af, it has a closed heart, only a common heart like on the mya,s and Chinese that i know of have a common chamber that is where the heart is open.

Nate, the hookah he has is not an AF, he just pointed out that the only other hookah available to him are the AF hookahs he linked to.

The hookahs you linked to do appear to be real AF hookahs, at least the first one for sure and I would guess the others as well.

As for replacing the rusted stem, yes you probably could get a replacement but being as it was a cheap hookah to begin with, your best bet is to just get a new hookah. A replacement stem would likely cost about the same as you paid in the first place. Either get another cheap hookah to hold you over or just start saving up for a good one.

your proably not going to be able do much about it if its in the heart. maby try a small wire brush or bronze wool and drying it out after sesion very well.

rust is a pita to remove, especially on something that needs to be pretty much "food safe". realistically you can cut the bottom of the heart off and make it an open common chamber like the myas, that way you could at least get in there to clean and realistically it should function the same. if you can get in there and clean it out you might want to use some cooking oil and put a light coat on it so it helps prevent more rust.

as to a new rig, you might want to look to ebay (stick with brand names if you go there) i got a mya mini acrylic for 25 usd shipped in the us, great little rig

Try This should help you fix that rusted heart and tide you over till you can get a new hookah.
