Default Soft Black 250?

anyone know if they've made any headway on this? I really want to get my hands on some but don't really want to shell out for a kilo of something I may not like...

your best bet is to get some locals to go in on it and each pay a 1/4 of it

If you like Nakhla Zaghloul then a kilo of this will do you good.

I've been led to this conclusion by other people, however given the frequency with which i smoke zag... a kilo of soft black would probably go to rot before i finished it...

Anyone that thinks Soft Black tastes like Zaghloul is someone that hasn't tried both or is in desperate need of new taste buds. They two products are very different.

Anyway, Soft Black is sold in 250g boxes but only in the Middle East but to be honest the product is wonderful and is a great smoke for people that want something that isn't fruity but not as heavy as the naturally flavoured Nakhla/Salloum type products. I always a kilo or two of Soft Black around since it's a great mixer and a regular choice for me.

I don't think it tastes much different than how I prepare Zaghloul (with honey and glycerine). And yes, my taste buds are working fine

Yes, they smell different right out of the bag, but flavor wise they are similiar. Maybe I need to smoke them side by side to compare, but the first time I smoked AF Soft Black the first comparison that came to mind was Nakhla Zaghloul.

I see what you are saying I think. Insofar as both are free of flavouring agents they do have a degree of similarity. Since AF Soft Black normally is pretty fresh and moist it doesn't really need to be preped with anything so I just chuck it an vortex and pack it like a normal moassel. Anyway, I'd suggest cleaning up your rig and doing a little back to back comparison of Zaghlouol (reconditioned as I normally do) and Soft Black and let me know what you think.

Also, it's great that you are willing to try something that isn't super processed and more traditional.

I think it may be a matter of what one is used to. Those who smoke many variations of traditional moassel (Like Hajo) can probably detect vast differences which would be subtle to someone without the same prior experience.

A bit like wine. An experienced wine drinker knows the vast difference between say, pinot noir and Shiraz. To a non-wine drinker, it all tastes like wine. Same concept.
