Default Hookah Sicknesss

Just curious. Last night I was doing a session using holland QL's. After a while i was feeling sick as shit. You know that "pukey" feeling, light headed, no color in face. I was smoking hookah hookah, so i dont think it was the shisha.

I would light the coals and set them in the ash tray to let them light up, once they were ashed over i would rotate them onto the bowl. This is only my second time doing this by myself so i know i've got to be screwing something up.

I wonder if i was hitting it too hard. (thats what she said)

Also, I know that alot of you guys use ******* Coals, or Coco coals do you think that the QL's are a part of what made me feel like shit?

Anyone willing to maybe ship me a few different types of coals to try? Of course i would be happy to paypal some cash, i just dont want to build up a shitload of coals i'll never use.

You probably got sick from hoovering. Lol. Smoke slowly and enjoy it.
the first time I smoked DA it was so good that I sucked down a full vortex bowl in less than thirty minutes. Could barely walk afterwards.

yeah you need to take breaks in between pulls. Happens all the time when i smoke alone. I just keep going at it like a champ. Feeling light headed is usually due to lack of oxygen, so take a breather in between pulls. Also stay hydrated.

Those holland quicklights are some of the cheapest, shittyest, most chemical-laden craptastic coals on the market.

Above all else, replace them right away. You're probably getting a lot of CO and gods know what else... Switch to Coconara, *******, or something of the like. You're moassel will taste better too. And the coals will last a lot longer.

Aside from that, like the others said, slow down.

That happened mainly Because of those coals. they are complete crap i suggest Natural and try out Ch Coco or Exotica all great coals. It deff wasnt the Shisha because Hoohak Hookah isnt that strong and really wouldnt give you that affect, unless you dont smoke much at all and your body isnt so use to nicotine. but i really do suggest Different coals, and if you want to stick with quick lights Try 3kings or ChQls. Hope this helps.

I felt the same way last week, I'm fairly new to hookah. I packed a bowl of AF Cherry and was getting paranoid about burning the tobacco like I had on my previous session. So I kept pulling frequently, trying to taste for the merest hint of burning. In the end the tobacco was fine but I felt sick and lightheaded, and made a note for future reference! All part of the learning process - Soex Choco Mint tonight, have heard some positive things about that flavour despite the herbal element.

Take breaks between pulls and always have something to drink. Don't forget to have some food in your stomach as well. I have had my share of nasty headaches, I do the right things and never get them anymore.

did that last week too. I had 3 others smoking with me and I'm the only one that got sick. It was AF Grape Mint... I was the only one pulling monster clouds though so I was probably pulling too much. Like others have said, replace your coals, pull less, and drink water.

I've never really gotten sick feeling, but my friends have. I think it's just too much nicotine intake, or maybe the flavor you were smoking didn't agree with your stomach? The QL's shouldn't have been the problem if you let them ash over completely.

I know how you feel. I used to feel sick all the time from smoking. It took me a long time to realise it was the coals and that I was not lighting them properly. Do try and get some natural coals. If you can't make sure you are lighting the QL's correctly and take breaks between pulls.
The link to the thread posted above is excellent, just follow those rules and you will be fine

I avoid eating fried foods before smoking...while it is important to eat before smoking, I recommend eating something mild, and of course stay hydrated with a good imported brews

Not calling you out at all, but dont over do it on the brews, it might add to the headache later!

Smoking anything increases your intake of CO, and increases you bodies CO2 levels. This alone can make you fill ill. The fix is less "hoovering." Bad coals can also increase CO intake. The other problem is hydration, hydration and hydration. Ever notice folks in reivews drinking between drags and often? That's because smoking anything dehydrates the body, so you really have to hydrate well! Beer (or any other ETOH) causes vasodilation, and will also make you fill dizzy for multiple medical reasons! Not that smoking is good, but not a good idea with smoking shisha...

Yeah, no rush in dragging off the hose.. It's easy to do smoking by yourself... But in my experience, my first few hookah smokes I got nauseous cause I wasn't yet used to the nicotine, even in small amounts.. Give it time. You won't get sick smoking. Assuming it's not the coals of course.

ive only had that feeling when smoking straight tobacco out of a waterpipe. Im guessing it was just the lack of oxygen from pulling to often/quickly just like everyone else is saying
