Default KM with or without a chiller?

Going to be purchasing a KM soon i think, at least before summer hits. Currently smoke out of a Mya QT, stoked to be getting a KM. However, when looking at the KMs, i'm not sure if i should get one with a chiller or not. When I do smoke, i always put ice in the base, basically every single time. So I am not sure of it is worth investing into a chiller. Here are a couple i was looking at:

Really like the design and color scheme on this one, specially the clear base.
http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-5365-...on-hookah.html

As for a non chiller...

I'm not too worried about the price, I think it will be worth putting down $30-$40 extra for a hookah i really like rather than going for the cheaper one. So chiller or no chiller?

I am not a poster, normally just lurk the forums. Definitely enjoy reading all of the topics and watching reviews, has helped me swiftly enter the world of hookah. happy smoking!

I have a KM 1001 Nights Double Decker, but plan on a KM chiller next, so I'm anxious to hear what people say about them. I love the look of the chiller, and plan on a purchase soon.

The chiller is completely useless and adds nothing to your session. You are much better off buying a KM without a chiller and maybe spend your money on moassel/coals or accessories.

My friends owns a KM World Cup trophy with a chiller. To be honest with you I did not notice a difference in the sessions from the addition of the chiller. I think the chiller has a sort of placebo effect to where some people think it works because they want it to and other say it doesnt because they are skeptical. Either way the first looks amazing with the chiller so I would have to say go get the first one and try it out.

My km has a chiller, it looks nice, doesn't do much, but it does cool the smoke a little

Since the price isn't an issue, go for the chiller. That hookah is super super sexy

I'd go for the chiller, not simply for the possible added cooling but it just looks really nice IMHO. I've never smoked one with a chiller though, so I'm not exactly sure what difference it'll make.

so chillers are more for aesthetic appeal rather than functionality. Anyone own/smoked out of both and experienced a noticeable difference? If i do get the chiller, i might try to get some dry ice to put in there, maybe that will be enough cold to make a difference, haha.

I did and there is no difference what so ever. There are much better looking non-chiller KM's out there other than the one you posted so, maybe you want to look at those before scratching the non-chillers off of your list. I do have to agree with everybody in that if money is no issue, the chiller one definitely wins the looks department.

watch out with the dry ice, I saw a video of people doing this and it seemed to be something that requires a lot of caution (this is in no way me saying that you don't know what you're doing. You may have majored in dry ice for all I know, just trying to make sure everyone is safe )

As for the chiller vs. non chiller, I do think that the chiller looks cool. But, for in my opinion I think the non chillers look a little more classy and may be more visually appealing in the long run. Thats my opinion on it, but if you think you will love the chiller as much as the day is long then by all means grab one now.
Happy smoking

I personally like the chiller better and if your willing to spend the extra $$$ then go for it. It prob. helps a lil to cool down the smoke. I dont have a chiller either, but yes i always put ice in my base.

If I end up getting another KM, it will probably be a chiller. Regarding how much it is able to chill the stem, I'm curious as to how it is attached. Really the only word of caution regarding chillers is they raise the center of gravity quite a bit, so if you tend to be clumsy around your pipes, you may want to avoid one.

Also I've seen a few people say that ice in the base can lessen the flavor (not confirmed, would love to hear more conversation on this topic!), so this is the alternative way to cool your stem.

i have filled my base with ice water and then actually put the whole thing in the frig to cool down like an hour before smoking. Seemed to help a lil bit and i think the clouds were actually bigger.

Be careful if you do decide to do anything with dry ice. First off do NOT put it in the base because the dry ice will sublimate back into its original form as Carbon Dioxide which is not what you want to inhale. Secondly if you do use dry ice in the chiller make sure to smoke in a well ventilated area simply because with the addition of CO2 of the dry ice to the CO/CO2 created by smoking this could be potentially hazardous. I'd personally stay away from dry ice all together.

Haha, I realized not to put dry ice in the base, thanks for clearing this up for people who might not have known that and done something potentially hazardous. I guess i can scratch "Fill my chiller with dry ice" off my bucket list...

I really wondered if the chillers really worked as well as ice in the vase, but I agree, to me they do look awesome. I gotta have at least one, so I'm gonna go for a KM chiller, then who knows?

Forget the chiller and just throw ice in the base.
I honestly haven't noticed a smoking difference between using the chiller and throwing ice in the base?

The chillers aren't worth it, I've never noticed a difference, the only reason I have 2 is because I liked the way they look.
