Default stainless steel

ok so im planning on buying a KM soon and ive been looking around at different sites and see that some KMs say they have a stainless steel stem.. i was just wondering if anyone knows if thats just the outside of the stem or the inside also and if its worth getting compared to the Tri-Metal, or any other type of stem.

It's all about looks man. If you like the simplicity of the stainless, go with it. If you want a bitchin' sweet flashy trimetal, it'll perform the same.

I believe all the KM hookahs now have stainless inner stems. I have an older Pharonie with a copper one, but it shouldn't make much of a difference (Although I'd swear the copper smokes cooler.)

i LOVE the way the tri-metal looks.. the only thing that gets me is that im worried it will rust easily or something because it wasnt "stainless steel".. especially any brass parts.. like the way a brass instrument rusts for example when it gets wet with water or saliva.

You will need to polish it every so often if you want to keep the shine. I buff mine to a matte finish and adore the look. It looks a little more rustic and well-loved.

My Km is very similar to JC's
the outside is all fancy and what not, but if you look into the stem itself, stainless steel

and like coyotero said, all KM's will smoke exactly the same, anything else is just aesthetics

Basically there are two types of KM and in general all Egyptians. One is solid (poured) brass, crome plated and the other type is hollow stainless steel which feels much lighter. Both are great and both types should have a durable inner stem/ down pipe which is almost always stainless steel or copper. The hollow ones are much cheaper but they still smoke great.

Yeah you shouldnt worry too much about the whole rusting thing since you should be cleaning it pretty often anyhow, but I guess the stainless steel aspect gives that added safety.

Copper does not rust. It'll oxidize a bit, but if you take care of your pipe and don't leave it standing in gross used water, that shouldn't be a problem.

And besides, any stainless will rust if conditions are right. It's just more resistant.

Yes all of the KM's are stainless steel (atleast the inside is) but the outsides can be different.

I had a no-name pipe with a copper stem, and I would have to agree about the cooler smoke.

Also, stainless is great too. I think maintenance is key, and as long as it's kept up on, I've found very few problems at all with any of my pipes.
