Default Found a new favorite coal: Belgian Natty Disks

I ordered a roll of Belgian Natural Coal Disks from Social Smoke just to try them out. I read one review on them by Paulk who loved them, so I decided to go for them.
I don't want this to be a review thread, just a "call to attention" thread. I'll be posting a full review here as well, I just wanted to raise some awareness of these coals which I think a plain old review in the "Natural Coals" thread wouldn't do.

The coals look like quicklight disks but are naturals and are apparently made in Belgium. To get to the point, these coals are THE best coals I've ever used. They ash perfectly, they burn perfectly, they take about half as long as Coconaras or Cocbricos to light and they're a lot cleaner. There's no black stuff that gets all over your hands, only a tiny bit.

So all in all, give these coals a try, you won't be disappointed. I've tried CocoBricos, CocoNaras, Exoticas, and Three Kings, and these coals top them all.

Here's a link to them:

What I do is I split the disk in half, so they're fully lit after 1-2 minutes on each side on a coil burner. They last about a good hour, they're very dense. Definitely last longer than Exoticas and about as long as Cocobricos.

The other thing about these coals is that the ash is extremely minimal and it sticks to the coal like glue. You have to scrape it off to ash it, but there's really no need for it because there barely is any ash to begin with. When they're all burnt out, they keep the shape of half the disk and you can easily pick them up with your tongs without them breaking down into powder. Like I said, the ash really sticks together!

Definitely give these a try, guys. I'll do a video review of them probably some time tomorrow along with another Social Smoke review, I'll be sure to post it in here.
I'll do a written review tonight when I have time!

Interesting. I have been tempted by them for a while now. I'll pick some of these up in a little while and see what there is to see.

Wow, looks nice!

I can get 216 Cocobrico's for €7,39 from German site, and 100 of that belgian disks for €7,40. So if you can do with just one coal each time, I'll give them a try when ordering coals again.

They're a lot better than Bricos, I think! I used Bricos before I got these coals and not only did they take longer to light, they also went out on me a couple of times and just didn't stay lit. Give these Belgian coals a try and let me know what you think! Make sure they're naturals though, not quicklights!

Just ordered 6kg of Cocobrico's, wanna finish them first. I'm planning on buying a KM soon, so if the shop who sells KM also sells Belgian nats I'll buy a roll and try them out.

Nah, they just look like regular quicklights. They last about an hour. I should have the video review of it up by tonight!
