Default Sad sad times

While I was cleaning out my vortex bowl I realized that the grommet of the hookah was stuck, I mean REALLY stuck in the bottom of the bowl. As I was trying to get it out, half of the bottom part of the bowl chipped off. My friend didn't have a replacement bowl at his house, so we decided to try and rig it up so it would work for the night. I put the bowl back together around the grommet and wrapped it as tight as I could get it with packaging tape (I wanted to use duct tape, but there was none). It actually created a semi-airtight seal again, so why not try it. Were smoking fantasia ace of spades with little to no performance differences.

i feel your pain. my fiend once chipped off a good amount of a bowl down at the bottom where it seals so i rigged it up with part of a beer can and scotch tape. It worked pretty well surprisingly. hey, if you wanna smoke theres a way! happy smoking

At least it still works.. On a similar note: my Vortex has a little crack in the bottom of the bowl from prying the grommet out. I'd imagine it will still work, but probably lose some juices.

I never thought that I would ever break anything. I guess I wasn't careful enough. The grommet I was using was a mod grommet from a sahara hookah. Anybody else have the problem of their grommet getting stuck in the bowl?

I just broke my vortex bowl the other day setting up my hookah, but for some reason, it still smoked great! Best smoke I've gotten out of it in a long time actually. But I'm probably going to have to get me a new one too.

I broke my first bowl, I used too much force, trying to get a good seal. that was a lesson learned. i'm glad i broke it, now i have a vortex.

in times like those, if the bowl is un-repairable, remeember you can calve out an apple and put holes in it and it works really well, lots of vides can be found on you tube to show you exactly how to, ive tried it and it works well for one shisha,

Buy an extra grommet instead of having to pry out one to switch between bowls. It will save you some heartbreak. You can find them for $1 shipped on ebay.

I lost my vortex bowl to an unfortunate rivalry between the pull of gravity and my kitchen floors ability to stop gravity. many pieces where cried over, and will be mourned untill I get a new one.

its good that you were able to rig it and get it to work that night
it sucks that you have to get new vortex

it also sucks how you titled this thread, cause its not really that sad

I guess it's not that sad and that the title is misleading. It could have been much worse. Good news is my new syrian comes in today.

ARgh, yeah this happened to me, the grommet is still stuck. If I order another bowl I'll be ordering another mod grommet.

In other news, I busted a vortex putting it onto the stem. Woe is me.

If it's just a small chip that fell out, find an epoxy resin that has a high temperature resistance and bond the pieces back together, I've used the same method to patch up a cracked neck on a vase.

I really don't know how I feel about using epoxy or any sort of glue on something like that.

Mom's figurines....sure! Still have Rhett Butler's hat glued on that accidentally got knocked off.....that was my brother's idea.

For a hookah bowl? I'll wait and buy a replacement.
