Default Acclimation

Should all shisha be acclimated, or just tangiers?

Also along with this question when opening a 250g box and putting it in container to acclimate should the brick of shisha be left as a brick or stirred up with the acclimation process?

Tobacco that has a large amount of nicotine in it (unwashed) like Tangiers should be acclimated so it doesn't go through humidity shock. Nahkla can be acclimated as well.

All tobacco can be acclimated, but for washed tobaccos it is not needed.

The best way to acclimate is to have the shisha spread out as much as possible, and make sure the juices are stirred around prior to acclimation.

They don't need to be acclimated, they are very washed.

Lets say you smoked and unwashed tobacco with out acclimation, what kind of effect would it have?

I read somewhere that Afzal was unwashed here on the forum, so if i acclimated it would it not taste life a piece of ass candy?

Nah, i do not think anything but Tangiers goes through a severe humidity shock that ruins the flavor. I smoke Nahkla and Afzal without acclimation regularly.

What is "Humidity Shock"?

Does any one have any scientific data on this "phenomenon"?

i think he is talking about sudden changes in humidity
i don't think anyone has data on this, but many people say it's too harsh when it's not acclimated

I have never had to acclimate any of my shisha, I think it would be a pain in the ass to have to acclimate everything!!?? I like that I can just open a new tub, pull some shisha out, setup a bowl and smoke a delicious hookah ...

So to answer your question, no, I have never acclimated anything. I did try with Tangiers, but I can never get it to smoke correctly ... I will try again though, at least give it another try ..

Nah only tangiers really needs to. But sometimes, Nakhla can be quiet harsh so some acclimating would help. Don't do it way too long, like over 24 hours or something cuz it does dry up the juices.

I had layalina grape and it tastes really soapy because of the excessive glycerin. I let it air out for a whole day and it seemed to toned down the "soap" taste down a lot

Yeah, I agree with Sambooka... I have never had to acclimate my shisha either. I've never seen some actual proof that indicates that there are any benefits to acclimating washed shishas. And yet, there's people who swear by it and say it makes a difference. I think it's BS, maybe for Tangier's it problaby is necessary, but for washed shisha's I don't think so...
