Hmmm maybe it is dry? Add some glycerin.

But if it aint that...Maybe there are too many coals?

yeah cut it down a coal, also try to fluff the shisha a bit more.

Look at your foil when you remove it later to be sure you didn't over pack.

Dude I had the same problem with Irish Cream. I started to pack alot less then normal maybe about 1/8'' below the lip. I used double foil and about the same two 1/4'' of exoticas. After that the harshness went away. I am using a medium funnel.
What type of bowl are you using?

Try double foil and keep your coals on the rim if the bowl. Maybe, invest in a better bowl?

Oh ceramic mods suck dude! Get a clay bowl and it'll help A LOT! Seriously it will.

The real problem with SB is that they all seem to have two flavours: cloyingly sweet and something artificial. If it's harsh i'd bet the problem is that bowl wasn't packed right or that you're using too much heat.

id say use less heat than 2 quarters of exoticas...

i only use 1 ql and i have amazing, and tasty smoke. if that helps you out at all, i also pack fluffyness to the rim of the bowl and blow into the bottom, to help airflow.

how ive done it since i first got a hookah, and it hasnt treated me wrong, unless i took a pull when a second coal was lighting haha

I'm sure it depend on the situation but I've never been able to use just one 1/4 exotica. 2 was a must.

I doubt it's a bad batch...
maybe he left the tobacco out sitting? Or maybe he got a lot of stems in his tobacco?
