Yeah I use normal foil all the time...No issues whatsoever. Never heard of any foil that was "bad" for smoking and if there are...good thing I haven't come across them :P

How many layers of foil do you guys put on your bowl and do you guys do that round ring in between the first and the second foil?

Since i generally use 40mm QL coals because i have such a small bowl i double layer it with HD foil. i usually do anyways as a safety measure so to speak so i dont burn my bowl up. what ive tried doing once is putting a layer of foil down, poking holes, then put a second layer on and poke a different set of holes. i think it worked actually...

I dont remember though its been awhile since i did that, maybe tonight ill experiment lol

I usually put 2 layers of standard foil. It keeps the bowl from getting too hot or from burning the tobacco.

Ugh I never do that ring thingy...It never works for me and its a pain in the rear imo lol. I hardly get ne smoke or flavor out of it and it takes longer to heat up and its a waste of foil :P

the ring thing seems to be a huge hit or miss when people try it. It's a nice idea, having a layer and then a ring and another layer so ash doesnt get through, or the one layer way where you put it in the bowl. With enough experimenting and testing someone could make the next screen! lol jk. but i cant see myself using that, if you handle the coals right you wont get a lot of ash in anyways!

edit: eh in theory yes, it heats up the tobacco more thus creating more smoke, and potentially burning it and ending the session way before it should. but with 2 layers there is no difference, and it helps the smoke last longer than one i think

...no never heard of that! lol Its just that the 2 layer takes longer to start up by a few more minutes compared to 1 layer.

But, its worth it cuz your tobacco won't burn easily.

Smoke doesn't really depend on if its 1 layer of foil imo. Heat management and the holes in the foil are the main keys for good smoke

Aluminium has been shown to "link" with alzheimer's in the brain, I'm not really hot on the subject, but apparently "tangles" of proteins that are the cause of alzheimer's have been known to have aluminium ions associated with them, but I've read studies that said it was probably just a coincidental, secondary connection and no causal link whatsoever has been established.

This is what caused hysteria with the use of aluminium pans, etc etc, however there is a general medical consensus that this is not really a problem, so as a result nothing has been done.

Basically nothing to be worried about, keep on tokin'

Nah I have heard of that myth too, it is NOT true

People think that aluminum foil is linked to Alzheimer's b/c of the aluminum found in the brain. Studies and tests have been done and no one can prove aluminum foil is any way associated with it...So it isn't true :P

hmmm okay then how many coals are you using at one time? cause too many coals or too much of a temperature change (running it under cold water right after finish a bowl and its still hot) and sometimes too much heat can crack/ break it.

I use cheap kitchen foil all the time, and I never seem to get sick or anything at all. Isn't all foil the same!?!?
