Default New to smoking Shisha

Alright,

I'm new to this site, I came across it by browsing looking for tips on smoking shisha. Now I just started recently smoking shisha. I bought my first pipe last week. I set it up, I start smoking... after a wile, the smoke gets realy damn irritating on the throat, even though its not thick at all. The shisha I bought is Soex brand, tobaco free and all. Some have told me the shisha I was using was bad, But I was looking for other oppinions. Help would be appreciated
thanks.

Careful where you put silicon!?

Have you checked out my How To Vid? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_BCJ1xOQTE
... It may be helpful

Also, try a washed tobacco, such as Al Fakher or Layalina (check out the review section on the different flavors and opinions)

Be sure your coal is fully lit, pack your bowl loosely with a gap of air between the top of the hookah and the foil, and put your coals on the outter edge of your bowl .. not directly in the middle of your bowl! Also make sure your stem is submerged in approx .5 to 1 inch of water. See the vid, it explains it all ...

Cheers!

I have not tried soex, but your cheap you can buy 50grams or several flavors. For $25 from hookahcompany.com I recently got 7 different flavors and a box of coals as well as a metal screen. Ive heard from many people to not use the metal screens, but with these flame japenese 3tab coals It seems to work perfectly. Probably because the ashes that come from these coals fall off in flakes rather then very small pieces which I can ask easily and does not fall into the bowl where my shisha is. Any others agree with this or am I solo in my thinking?

yeah i've noticed the poor taste in the soex brand, I have been going to some sort of shisha bar, where you simply choose your flavor and they bring it to you. That is when I say the huge difference in taste between their relaxing and easy tasting smoke, and my painfull and totally irritating smoke.

I will be cheking the videos

Does it taste burnt? you probably are burning it. Pack a lil less cuz you most likely are packing too high.

Make sure the water level on the stem while in the vase is submerged in water at least 1"-2"

Are you using quicklights? That could explain a lot cuz they impart the taste immensely.

Also, make sure your coals are red hot b4 putting them on the bowl (red hot all over, no black spots). If you don't it can make your smoke taste burnt and taste like charcoals

ohhh...that might explain many things then. I do in fact use the quick lights, and I've ben putting them on the bowl as soon as they've been burning...
I guess I've found all my problems

Also the brand of quicklites is really important. Some of the best stuff is 3kings, belgian coals and others you can find in the reviews section with a good rating.
Also be sure to check the videos for packing technics and how to setup generally.
Some easy to manage brnds are AlFakher and starbuzz and both are damn tasty with starbuzz being on the more sweet side and also more expensive.

soex doesnt have bad smoke ive smoked it plenty of times and it turned out fine :] but ya make sure you have it packed loosely, and the water is either 1inch over the down stem, enough holes in your foil, SHINEY SIDE DOWN, haha and make sure you coal is red hot before smoking :]

Golden QL's are fairly tasteless, as long as they're lit fully. sometimes they tend to have a few black spots but once it's like 5 minutes through, you should be good.
