Default Bout to give up....

I figured I'd run back up to DFW this weekend and hit my markets for a new rig.

Im used to seeing and buying different sort of stuff than you find online.... Im sick of the same old same.

SO... I get there and all that stuff is pretty much phased out for pumpkins and Mya Sarays. Neither of which i give a crap about, as Iam needing a new rig to replace a corroded mya saray thats less than a year old. Screw this Chinese business.

What I need is a brass cast hookah that has a sleeved core. I am used to spending $59 a pop for them and am not about spend more for one either... as I have become spoiled and will give myself a reason to go to Houston and seek out the markets there..... any one knows where I can pick one up, please lemme know. I think I"ve damn near exhausted the net... but Im sure Ive forgotten a few places.

Any vendors that have a one of a kind sample or the like they are willing to part with, please hit me up.

Corroded in less then a year? That is the worst I've hear yet. All, I can say is if you buy stuff made with slave labour you should expect the worst. I'm clear on if your looking for a whole narghile or just the stem. If it's the latter you may have some trouble because I can't recall seeing a high quality brass cored & welded stem sold as a stand alone item. If you want a full rig of top quality you likely won't find it for $59 but I'll look around.

Yeah....the aluminum inner core on my MYA has degraded so much that its breaking off in little flecks. I intend to get myself a piece of brass tubing and thread it as a replacement when I have the time.

I know my price is low.... but like I say .... thats the price Im accustomed to. I know most online vendors prices on such hookahs are around $30 more..... but they need to have the price set there as hookah is the source of income only. The places I shop are basically middle eastern grocers that are making profits on other goods as well and arent needing to markup the product so much.

On fact. I do have an extra vase I could jab a new stem in.... but it would have to be getting a great deal on a stem alone.

If I understand you intend to buy a bit of brass tubing and thread it into your decaying mya stem. If that is the plan you should be able to spend a lot less then 59USD. Assuming you can get tubing that is exactly the right size you would still need to get it threaded which is a hassle but doable or have it brazed into place.

As to buying a new stem I think you'll find that what is available is not that well built and that no bargains are to be had.

Around here food stores don't carry anything related to narghiles but when traveling in other parts of the US i've found that all the grocery stores that carry such things carry Chinese junk. If you've had more success then i'm happy for you. But, if what you got at the grocery store is a 59USD rig made in China that wore out in a year i'd say you made the wrong purchase.

The places that only sell narghile related stuff are worthy of our support because they carry things that we need that no grocery store would and they give better service and support then someone who basically knows nothing but price of bread, meat and milk.

Honestly, i'd say that it's a bad idea to shop for a narghile with a low price in mind. Instead, the fact is that you'll spend hundred or more dollars on coals and shisha within a year then you would on almost any rig and yet what you use to smoke is as important as what consumables you use. Your narghile is something that should last you at least a life time and getting something that only lasts a few years is a fools economy.

If I was to buy one, right now! It would definitely be one of the Khalil Maamoon's. I have the 28" Amer and I love it!
... I am open to other hookahs, but so far this one has been really reliable and a great smoke. Stem is a little crooked, but other than that, I love it!
Please let me know what you decide to do, cuz I would like to see the rig you decide to get. I may like to get one too, especially if you can find a nice brass core hookah for that price range at a market. How tall are they usually? (in that price range..)

Cheers!

Lake,

I have a few shops in Houston, you are welcome to come and visit me. I have several Hookahs to choose from...none being Chinese.

I can also get a hold of some solid brass rigs for you if you're interested in that as well.

Let me know.
Thanks,
Jimmy

Hey Lake, be sure to let us know what you plan on doing or if you got any more questions. A lot of pretty sharp people are here so I'm betting we could steer you towards something you'd be happy with.

OK.... Im narrowing down to 2 different ones.

Either a Khalil Mamoun or an Al Fahker hookah.

or

Im familiar with the makers of the Al Fakher hookah.... appears to be a nour line... I can tell by the hose port. I have a few from the this maker and I love em.

I dont hve a Egyptian anymore.. and the one I had was really cheap.... so Khalil might be a good addition too.

No doubt that Khalil Mamoun makes great stuff and while I have heard good things about Al Fahker I don't personally know anyone that has one. Which ever one you you get be sure to review it for us and tell us about how the purchase went.

The AF really is a luxurious pipe. It smokes really well. I have a KM on the way of comparable size (36") to settle this debate personally.

Is beating on someone for dredging up an old post really necessary? Everyone makes a mistake, no need for you guys to gather around and sling mud.
