Default tangiers tobacco purchase

I bought Raspberry and Watermelon Tangiers the other day. They have been sitting in the room that we smoke in, in a tupperware container with the lid off so it can acclimate.

Every couple of hours I will stir it. It has been sitting on the counter since 7/7/07 at 4:00 pm. It STILL has the BBQ smell. What am I doing wrong? Why wont it acclimate?!?!

I wish I had a good answer for you, but the truth is that Tangiers tobacco is controlled by strange and mysterious forces....

I only had one flavor smell like BBQ -- Blackthorn. I think I was just misinterpretting the flavor though... I'm not really sure. I never really got the stuff to smoke that well. When it does smoke, it tastes like pepper.

Tangiers Raspberry (new and old) has a very meaty smell to it, and it's a flavor I have difficulty getting to smoke smoothly. Watermelon I don't have, so I don't know...

I have some Kashmire Peach that I am acclimating now. It doesn't smell as badly like BBQ for me as the watermelon did though...maybe it is just trial and error? I guess let it "acclimate" some more!? Let us know...

The only flavor of Tang i got that smell from was my Vanilla of all things.

I literary left it sitting out 4 days straight (In VA weather and humidity) to get it to behave. I have to sit it out 24hr before I want to smoke it, each and every time.

Certain flavors always seem more difficult.
