I've done 50/50 milk/water. I think it was 2% lol, not sure if other % makes a difference.

Standard cow's milk, I had good luck with 2% milk. And you don't need a ton, milk has a tenancy's to bubble up and foam thru the hoses, so it should be used more on the "light" side. Depending on the size of your base, no more than 1.5-2" MAX, if not less. It's easier to add some more than have to much.

Also... expect to CLEAN the HECK out of your hookah RIGHT after you finish. DO NOT LEAVE MILK IN THE BASE! It gets nasty very, very fast! Clean the stem and base, plus I would suggest using a Washable hose so if you draw milk into it, your safe to wash it too.

Good luck! Milk can add density to the smoke, but it's easier to adjust your style and add ice to the base. But it does offer a mellow taste to some flavors (coffee).

the % doesnt make a difference ^^
how much milk you can use depends on your base ... if there is alot of space between the water surface and the stem-base, you can mix 80:20 (milk:water)
but 50:50 is enough. you should also know, that there is no big difference in smoking ... the smoke is more "smooth" and dont rasp in your neck but the clouds are the same

you will never get really big clouds with three kings coals .. the heat of these coals is not enough for good smoke ^^
try exoticas or some other natural coals. with the right coal, you can get nice and thick smoke with your al fakher!

I think milk %age would have to make a difference, less milk solids involved would mean less bubbling. Lower %age means fewer solids.

OK, I have experimented with this when I first started, and the milk bubbled everywhere! LOL!!

I would recommend you use a can of coconut milk instead .. and fill up the rest of the way with water ...

If you must use regular milk, just use a little bit, or it will bubble up like crazy! and that is not good when those bubbles get in your hose .. YUCK!

Cheers!

sure, but it doesnt matter for the volume of the smoke
it doesnt change anything - the smoke isnt more, than with normal water ^^

@ sambooka: you should try normal milk with water (50:50 or maybe, if you use a small hookah with less milk) .. normally it works great for me. i like to use it with banana tobacco or strawberry ^^
the smoke is more mild, than with normal water

I don't do milk, for a couple of reasons.

It bubbles, unless you dilute it significantly.

It doesn't smell to appealing, especially if you like to wash your hookah only once a week :P.

I like my milk for drinking, lol.

So I just use plain old water. I am not even really amped up to try coolaid or anything either.

Water and ice for me, but I've tried milk and wasnt really impressed. I had the bubbling issue as well. I would suggest like 20% milk and 80% water and fill to your normal spot.

The best milk is 100% Cambodian BREAST MILK!

Puahahhahaha , seriously though, you really dont need milk. Try out coconut milk if you really feel that it is necessary. Put in less than 9% of when you add water.

doesnt do much for me really. I don't do it anymore. Even a full tray of ice only makes the slightest difference for me.

Ice can take the edge off of a flavor that may be abit harsh, but that's the problem.Ice can take the edge off of a flavor.Having your smoke TOO cold can sometimes detract from the flavor of the moassell, is what I'm trying to say.

The milk gives nice clouds but is very annoying all the cleaning and bubbling stuff, the ice isn't as effective as the milk but it helps in other things. If you really want nice clouds try to use coconut milk or maybe any soda flavor, the coconut works great and gives a very nice taste, the soda diluted with water (40 soda 60 water) gave me a very thick clouds but the taste is very harsh, the same happens when you put too much coal. So I'd rather a nice and tasty session than a couple of big clouds and rings.

Eck I tried the milk thing when I was new to hookah...Bubbles were EVERYWHERE!

Even a quarter size of milk would make bubbles go everywhere!

After that, I never used milk again. BUT! I have tried horchata in the base and it works! It makes the smoke sweeter but no change in amount of smoke imo (I personally think that is a myth) But, make sure it is the kind of horchata that does NOT bubble.

Ice+water has always worked for me. The smoke is a lot more cooler

Why would you waste horchata in the base?! :O :O :O

I use my horchata for drinkins'.

I honestly thing that the ice isn't worth it. I love flavor and would kick myself in the ass if I sacrificed flavor for more smoke. Smoke is nice yes, but not as important. I stick with just plain tap water .

Because I absolutely horchata! lol I got curious about putting the drink in the base one day while I was drinking it and it was delicious lmao. Smoking with the horchata in the base made the smoke a lil more sweeter with a touch of some cinnamon and it seemed a lot more smoother as well.

i would avoid anything milky in the vase. it doesn't really do that much except bubble into nook and cranny of your hookah, destroying your hose if its not washable. also its harder to clean out, and if left in areas it will spoil on your hookah which is completely disgusting.
