Default Acclimation: How much is too much

I was wondering if there was a point at which you start to hurt your tangiers. I have heard of people leaving it out for 24 hours. It seems logical that you would eventually lose flavor considering how careful we are to keep shisha sealed away to prevent exactly that.

just acclimate it to the point where when you fan the tobacco toward your face it smells right like the flavor it is.

I allow mine to acclimate for 18-24 hours with no loss of flavor yet

I think it doesn't matter how long you've acclimated because some tangiers actually take longer to acclimate than other flavors. I'd say 24 hours is good enough

So I tried out the tangiers lucid cocoa again after acclimation and I would say it had less flavor than the first time.
I have no idea what I am doing wrong. The first smoke I had of it was weak at best but this one had almost no flavor at all.

I am using a small funnel with three 3 kings on top. Basic foil... I don't know what else to do. There is no more room an the bowl for more coals. I am getting great clouds. But I could discern no cocoa flavor. There was an extremely slight smell of it in the smoke but nothing else. Is it possible that I got a bad batch? That would be terrible.

Please help.

I'm having the SAME prob! I have strawberry (lucid line). It smokes but I taste absolutely no Strawberry or maybe just a hint if I tried very hard to taste the flavor.

I think your using too much heat because I think that's da prob with mine. I'm gonna try to get some Japanese Silver coals since they don't give off too much heat

I've never been able to acclimate any tobacco too long. Dunno if that's possible?

Flavor strength is usually not related to acclimation, it's related to the flavor strength and that's it. Lucid has been getting a lot of complaints about no flavor or minimal flavor. And to that, I say get Cocoa.

Acclimating "fixes" the off-smelling soy sauce type smell associated with Humidity shock.

I find that my tangiers sessions sometimes go like this: a) first few minutes are slightly harsh; next 15-30 minutes offer great clouds, lots of flavor; b) then it dips to just smoke, no flavor for maybe 10-15 minutes; c) change coals and we're back to flavor-mode, d) as the coals start to cash the flavor dries up again

I don't think its related to acclimation. Probably my ice-to-water ratio is too high

Don't use ice at all and you'll get an amazing amount of flavor.

Acclimate for about 16 hours. Smell it and if it still smells off acclimate it for another 2 hours and just keep checking on it. When it smells right then go ahead and throw it in a bowl to try it out. You don't have to acclimate lucid though. Mr. Bungle sent me some watermelon and I threw it in a bowl right after it got here and things were fantastic. Good flavor and smoke.

Well I tried again. I got next to no flavor again.

Slightly warm water.
2 coals
Packed high but not tight.
foiled.
Great smoke but next to nothing.

I am really disappointed. I am enjoying the sessions and they last for ever. Hell they use most of a roll of three kings every time I pack. But the flavor I was looking forward is not present...

I am thinking of trying to get my hands on some classic cocoa and comparing but I spent my hookah allotment on the Lucid and funnel. Also I am out of the job again. Damn fluctuating work. I am probably just going to let the lucid sit until I can get the classic in and use it to work up to a bowl of 100 % classic.

/sigh

Is it that much trouble to just open a box, and then go do something else for 24 hours? To me, Tangiers doesn't seem like much work at all if you know what your doing.

I don't think their is such thing as too much acclimation.
during the process of acclimating, you're just letting the tobacco get used to the humidity. After it does that, it justs sits there.

Well happily the humidity around here has finally evened out it seems. Last night I tried again and had a nice smoke. Not gobs of flavor but it was more like the first time I tried it.
Mixed with a little fusion strawberry too. Chocolate strawberries. yum. And for about 2 1/2 hours.
