What's the difference with dark leaf and regular? Is there a different tastes or something? The only dark leaf tobacco I've tried is Tangiers, but I never got it to smoke properly

Hello HookahPro Community,
PakistaniMasty - Here Peanut Butter And Jelly shisha hmm seems like it would taste a bit nasty. But it also sounds like something DMCWEBD would try out or he would just try to make his own lol.

Lighter leaf tobacco has more sweet tones to it, darker is more on the spicy , woodsy side.

I like darker tone tobaccos. They are more complex and spicy. The lighter kinds are for the newer smokers.

hmmm well on cigars from my experiences the darker cigars have been sweeter and smoother than the lighter ones, but it be the differences could be in processing and all... also it could be my perception

Tobacco leaves get dark buy growing them in the shade and by the sort of curing/fermentation they undergo when getting them ready for being used pipes or cigars. Cigarettes don't uses dark leaves as it takes more time and energy to process them and they know that the people that buy cigarettes don't care about taste any way. To some extent, moassel is always darker because of the mixture of molasses or honey adds a bit of colour. Any washed moassel starts out with lighter, cheaper tobacco and takes away a big portion of what the tobacco could contribute to the flavour. Tobacco can be rich and complicated if processed properly but for the most part you won't find the full body and tastes that tobacco can give in modern style moassel. In the states, Tangiers, H-H Cavendish, Plain Salloum, Zaghloul are about it in terms of darker leaves. Most Turkish, Iranian and Syrian moassel uses higher quality dark leaves although they are often blended to give a complicated rather then just rich/heavy flavour.

I was just about to post what Hajo said!

I would try to get your hands on some Syrian or some Middle eastern Brand tobacco. Hajo is a good source for samples, he always surprises us when it comes to that stuff. I am sure that if you wander around your city trying to find some of what your looking for, you may be surprised at what you find.

if you have tried the Contentment from Hajo or the Tangiers F-line, that is the buzz to expect from Bubba's tobacco. I hear that he can also make it unflavored, well, just sweet flavored, i would email or call him and ask about that. It is very dark, and cut medium-fine I would say. If not for the killer, killer buzz i would smoke PB&J regularly. It tastes exactly how you would expect it too. It produces thick clouds and is near impossible to burn like most other darker style tobacco. I would reccomend it's a bit steep in price, I think 12 bucks total for 100 grams, or $19 for 200 give or take $1.

The stuff i got was a bit more gooey, but very close to that. I like to say it looks like woodchips.

PB & J shisha sound just nasty, something I would go out of my way to avoid. As to "buzz" the thing is that I never experienced it myself even when I first started smoking. I suppose that most of you guys inhale deeply when smoking which I guess effects things. Personally taste/texture/craftsmanship is what it's all about to me.

As to the Contentment I am getting in a bunch of high quality Iranian stuff soon but I don't know if i'll be doing the samples thing again. The work and expense in getting 40 samples out is substantial and only two reviews came in so it seems that the interest wasn't that much after all.

afzal s also a dark leaf tobacco, to answer the original question. And Hajo, I agree. The fact that you and Adam took the time and expense to provide samples to the folks here and noone took the time to review these fine products is abit of an embarassment, quite frankly! although it should be noted that contentment has recieved 3 reviews since Hajos' preceeding post.

Apologies, Hajo. I have tried all four of the samples so far. Just haven't had a chance to post the reviews yet. All four were fantastic and were some of the most enjoyable smokes I have had. There is something that just takes you away when enjoying traditional tobacco, without the thought of going for massive clouds. Even though the Contentment was quite impressive with it's clouds.
