Default Natural coconut charcoal

Has anybody ever though of buying bulk natural coconut charcoal from a manufacturer?

Kamado is a good example
http://www.tropicalcharcoal.com/
Apparently you can get a 12lb box for a shipped price of 14.99

That is just an example and the pieces offered would need to be cut down to be usable on the hookah but there are other companies that make everything from coco-nara sized pieces to gigantic grilling monsters the size of dinner plates.

Considering what they are it seems that this might be a worthy endeavor or at least experiment.

definitely a good idea kalutika. we should look into a possible group buy if some places wont sell in non bulk.

Here is what the Kamado charcoal looks like:

Would probably take some effort to get this down to a size useful for the hookah

You all make me laugh. Smoking Hookah is supposed to be a relaxing hobby that people are supposed to be spending their disposable income on. When I want to use natural coals that burn clean, I pay a premium price for good coals.

Don't get me wrong, common sense dictates that we should shop around and pay the least amount of money for the same or very comparable products. Unfortunately boys and girls, there is no Costco/Warehouse shopping for Hookahs and sometimes we need to pay for the things we really want.

That being said, breaking down coals the size of a Ford Focus into something that can be used on a hookah is an endeavor that I would hope not be worth very many peoples time on this forum.

By all means, please keep us posted on what its like to spend $200 worth of your time while trying to save $40 on charcoals that have yet to be determined to be any good.

King... what are you talking about?

The pieces are about three inches long. They don't need much breaking down.

As I said (had you actually read my post) they can be bought in coco-nara sized blocks. No break down necessary.

I don't know what line of work you are in where a couple minutes turns into 200 dollars but sign me up. Also refer me to a different work site so we are not working together. I would hate to propose anything to a boss that laughs at efficiency, money saving and forward thinking

Have you ever tried natural lump charcoal? A lot of breaking down involved there that most of us have dealt with at one time or another.

Regarding your comment about there being no costco for hookah products... guess what... this could be it for coco coals. So why dismiss it before there is even any attempt?

I am a bit confused as to why you are laughing at people for trying to save money and looking for new products to buy and try out. Not all of us intentionally want to spend extra money for no other reason than to do so. If we have knowledge of an analog product for a cheaper price why not try it out?

Bear in mind just about all of those are rhetorical questions. Not the job one. I would love to earn an average of 6k an hour.

Scoop happily the site I linked is selling the 12 pound boxes fairly cheap. I think once my box of coconaras get a little lower I may make the purchase to see what they are like.
If they are not suitable for hookah I am a grill fanatic anyway and coconut coals make for astoundingly good grilling coals.

I am hoping I can get a sample or make a small purchase from one of the vendors that deals with small coconara like sizes. If not a group buy is on the table. Sending out some e-mails to distributors in a minute..

Sorry dunkel. It's not worth being offended

Sorry to get you fired up. This was more directed towards Scoop anyways. I hope that you get lucky with these coals. This is something that is just not for me. All the best.

After reading this thread I'm really considering trying these natural coals out.

How are they compared to a QL or a finger-type coal?
Or they easy to light, with say an electric coil?
