Default wisdom teeth

This may seem like a rather random question, but someone may know the answer. I got my wisdom teeth pulled two days ago and was wondering when it would be ok to smoke my hookah. You're not supposed to drink from a straw nor smoke cigarettes afterwards- so i'm assuming this rule applies to hookah as well. Does anyone know how long you're supposed to wait?

you should ask your dentist but I think it's at least 2 weeks. It has to do with letting the holes in your gums fully heal and close up. It's easy to get an infection until that happens., good luck, i went thru it 4 years ago and it was crap...

Yeah the suction of taking a hit can open the wounds from the surgery. Also you can get dry socket, which I never have had but here it's awful. Best just to lay off until it's safe.

when I got mine pulled it hurt like hell to drink from a straw and smoke....yeah I had to try lol. It's because the muscles used to suck will somewhat pull on the stitches.

Dry socket can be such a royal pain in the ass. I'm so glad i got mine pulled before i started smoking hookah. I'd wait until the holes started to heal and close completely before trying to smoke again... because hookah requires like 2x the suction a straw or cigarette does.

I would talk to your dentist. I'm pretty sure two weeks may not be enough. I wasn't smoknig hookah when I got mine done, but didn't wait until my holes closed and chose to eat french fries. Yea, you your imagination on that one. Bottom line, these are your teeth here, respect them or else pay the price...

it really depends on how your body heals and how deep in there they are. when i got mine pulled i ate chilly and a frosty that night (not with a straw though) and after about 2-3 days i was pretty much fine. BUT i would say wait at least the time they said to for cigs/straws if not longer. dry socket it bad, some of my friends got it and it was not fun at all

The same "act of suction" could cause clots or any other healing of the gums to be undone.

I say give it at least two weeks. I had my wisdoms taken out at the beginning of July and it sucked big time however the 2 week wait before smoking again was completely worth it. That first session after a two week break is mind blowing!

the wound is held together with stitches which keep each side of the wound held together, you blood coagulates in side the gap which then your body repairs. by sucking you pull on the wound which will cause the gap to get larger and/or the stitches to pop out which will allow the large clot in there to come out leaving a painful gap which has to be packed and re-stitched

i could probably get into better depth on it but ya, i think that description will make enough people squirm that are squimmish

o and a work around is to get a favorable person of the opposite sex to just shot gun you for a week or so

I got my wisdom teeth out almost two weeks ago and on the sheet i got for my surgery it said not to smoke for 3-4 days after the surgery. I would give it a couple more days just to be safe, but after that you should be fine.

YOu should wait at least one week, other wise your risk for "Dry socket" is really high. You don't want dry socket, the pain is very strong.

When I got a tooth pulled like 10 years ago I smoked a cig through my nose. Inhale and exhale. LOL I'm glad I'm not an addict anymore.

does anyone know if this would apply to having to get a new crown?...one of my molars has lost some of the tooth, so I might have to get a root canal, and will definitely have to get a crown...just wondering if anyone out there would know if I would have to lay off the hookah for awhile.

thanks
