Default Tips for a new smoker

If you have any tips or tricks for smoking a hookah, let me know. I'm getting my first hookah, and any kind of help would be nice.

well, first and most important, make sure you are buying a quality hookah that will have an air tight seal...this will ensure awesome smoking sessions...and actually, if you follow the link below you'll find a lot of helpful info on setting up...

http://www.hookah-shisha.com/store/p...leId=6&CtgId=1

It's pretty much everything I would have mentioned...(I'm too lazy to type it all out, lol)

european people getting gypped on that hookah.
49.95 USD = 36.2745 EUR

thats most of the tips. use ice in the base, freeze your base/stem, learn heat management. if you can get this down you can get anything to smoke. dont let tobacco touch the foil, water only 1 inch above the end of your stem, and other stuff i cant think of right now

Order more coals. Those 2 rolls only have 8 coals each and will be gone in no time. Also you might want to get a few 50 g packages of different brands shisha in flavors you think you'll like. the 100 grams included will run out before your coals will. Might want to get a Nammor hose too.

thats the heat management part. experiment with what works for you on that specific tobacco. i say cut the coals in half before you use it so you can always add more and its not a big increase. start with 1 whole coal cut in half though and one on each side (since your using the rolls of coals)

Some tips...

Double Layer of foil, gives you better heat management.

If you want a washable hose, look at the Nammor hoses (Hookah-shisha.com) or you could also get this hose from their site:

http://www.hookah-shisha.com/store/p...&idproduct=486

try out some different tobaccos. There are several brands to try, pick and choose. Read the reviews to see what others are saying.
http://www.hookahpro.com/forums/index.php?board=14.0

when you first get your hookah, wash it. New hookahs have residue on them that could effect the experience.

Good luck

My tips to you:

-Always use ICE in the base, it will enchance your smoking experience 10 fold.
-Try to start with washed tobacco like, al fakher, starbuzz
-Washed and Unwashed means if the nicotine is washed out, Washed is .05% nicotine unwashed is .5%
-Clean your hookah after or before every session, i do both. This is a nice relaxation thing but hygene of your hookah is REALLY important
-Don't inhale when the quick lites are lighting, thats gun powder, and not really good to inhale.
-Use this forum alot, You will find almost anything you need to know here, people are always willing to help, and trust me...people know what they are doing here.

Besides all that, enjoy yourself, Hookah is supposed to be about enjoyment, let us know if you need any help!

Sweet! I love Akhla's and have used them extensively. Here is what you do. Light them from the bottom and run the lighter/torch all over the bottom for a second even after it catches and smokes. Then after it gets done smoking all over you have to blow on the coal and make it cherry red, at that time you will see where you need to apply more heat because it wont be red it will be black still. Run your lighter/torch on those areas for a couple of seconds and then immediately blow on the coal and watch it turn cherry red all over. when its even its ready to put on the bowl.

like alot of business say their main thing is location, location, location... in hookah'ing its all about heat management, heat management, heat management... thats what i say... also bowl packing is important... i will say dont use an aluminum lining between the bowl and tobacco... but thats because i was an idiot and did so...

you may hear it, you may not. just make sure that you dont pack too high and make sure tobacco doesnt touch the foil. really just smoke and see what works and not. what works for us may not work for you so smoking is mostly trial and error.

before the shisha even touches the bowl, make sure you break it up pretty well. take out the stems, loosen the clumps, then put it lightly in the bowl, and like he said, dont let it touch the foil, otherwise the tobacco, and also dont light the coal on top of the bowl.

it will take a while to get good at it. i personally am alot better than i was months ago, but i have my problems now and then: one day a flavor will be so yummy and strong, next day you cant even taste it. makes me scratch my head.

main thing is - keep at it and practice.
